hoony
hey guys, i don't know what to do next to my car so was wondering if you guys could just give me your opinions and advice basically i just want my car to be a bit more fun than it is now... running stock boost, stock turbo, stock SMIC... only has full Blitz NuR Spec exhaust, Blitz Air Filter, Yashio Factory radiator... i was thinking: FMIC; bigger turbo which in turn means; boost controller (i'm picking up my MBC tonight but i don't know how to fit it) more boost means i have to get a new boost gauge (stock only shows up to 1 bar +) which means i need to get a new oil temperature and battery voltage gauge (to match the new boost gauge) with the bigger turbo i just want an aftermarket one, can run moderate power, straight bolt-on to stock flange but not too expensive which will allow; a screamer pipe and all that wank kinda stuff... and lastly it's running a stock BOV too so please guys, if you could help me out, pass over all your suggestions and also a budget i'd be looking at spending including parts and labour... (if anybody can do the labour for me in exchange for beer/spirits i can deal with that too) yeah, all advice will be HUGELY appreciated NOTE: i really want an aftermarket turbo that's reliable and not too $$$ cheers guys, Andrew Edited March 19, 2008 by fei-sti_rex Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/211159-next-modifications/ Share on other sites
MattyP
Just high flow the stock turbo if you don't want to splash out on lots of money. Otherwise, check out the Forced Induction forum for help on the above question. If you want reliable...usually that means spending good money to get quality stuff..everything from fmic, turbo & ecu. It's good to ask us a budget to give you, but it really boils down to YOUR budget at the end of the day. r33cruiser
basically for a turbo, stock low mount internally gated would be easiest (may need to fabricate a new dump/ this is where the screamer pipe comes in), fmic and some pretty gauges your lookin at about 2-3k if u shop around. GeeTR
Budget & Power is what will set your parts requirement from others. Pick a figure, look what other people have done. If you don't know how much power you want / need, I hear the WA chaps are friendly Get along to an event and ask for a ride in something. Without the above, your just another guy wanting ppl to choose parts for him... how long is that string? DECIM8
Mate dont worry about your gauges.. First things first.. Bigger turbo - More heat + ECU problems.. So you'll need: New ECU - Preff Power FC New FMIC A Oil cooler Injectors 555cc are good. A new Fuel pump And an electronic boost controller like the Blitz SBC is good because it can monitor boost in psi,bar whatever and for a $40 cable can also monitor 3 inputs i.e water temp, oil presure and so on.. its about $400 these days which is alot less than 3 good gauges. Id say you want a highflowed turbo, will save u buying alot more gear Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/211159-next-modifications/#findComment-3733961 Share on other sites
bumble_bee
get new ecu.. power fc..or re-map done by nistune i dont no about 34's, but im pretty sure ur stock computer wont like boost above 14psi.. and ur fuel pump wont manage that power too.. plus ur injectors.. once u start changing turbo/s to bigger ones or high flowing etc.. other parts on the car will start failing and wont keep up for what u have plan.. if u catch my drift... RPR33
just what these guys have said. if you want to do it right it can be a few dollars. once you do the turbo you'll need to do things like ecu, clutch, afm, injectors, fuel pump and cooler to really get the the most out of it. but it comes down to the power you want. you could get around 180-200rwkw with a cooler, exhuast, boost controller and safc. 700HP-GTR33
New Turbo...Set at 1 Bar via actuator. This is your next step. But if you really want some fun..... Turbo Computer Tune That is provided your maintenance schedule is up to date (ie timing belt..fuel pump...) and you have some good supporting mods such as oil cooler and maybe a larger inter-cooler.
