The residential area has expanded and they're trying to make the infrastructure keep up. That BP intersection is a nightmare and can't keep up with flow.

Road widening for a longer right hand turn lane off Port Wakefield Road into Paralowie and changing the intersection is being planned.

I work for a development planning company, so I know these things LOL

:D

haha the coppers are gona hate it they cut down the trees where they always use to park amongst with the camera just after the caltex. Think they park there cuz the speed zone drops to 90 pass the servo most people dont see the sign then get done doin 110 which is the speed limit for most of port wakefield rd.

its actually all part of this Northern Expressway project (from the Port River Expressway / Port Wakefield Rd overpass right thru to the Gawler Bypass. Its incorporating a LOT of widening and improvements to Port Wakefield Rd thru to Waterloo Corner road, and up from there

What is the Northern Expressway?

The Northern Expressway Project consists of two components: the new Northern Expressway and the Port Wakefield Road Upgrade. The Northern Expressway will be a new 23 kilometre road linking the Gawler Bypass with Port Wakefield Road at a point about three kilometres north of the Waterloo Corner Road intersection.

To meet the demand of increased traffic volumes generated by the new expressway, Port Wakefield Road will be upgraded at key intersections between its intersection with the Northern Expressway and Salisbury Highway.

The Northern Expressway project is a joint initiative by the Australian and South Australian governments under the AusLink program. It will be the largest road construction project in the state since the 1960s

The Salisbury Council is looking to expand the residential zone further than Paralowie and Burton, so they're trying to get the road network right first go.

This means lots of ongoing and massive road works and headaches for residents in the area in the meantime.

Bout bloody time to!! Are they turning Pt Wakefeild road into a 3 lane highway or just keeping it as 2 lanes?? For one of the main highways into Adelaide its pretty piss poor really!

Just be glad when its all done its mayhem out there atm specially with the long weekend now, was talking to a truck driver here at work before and he said the traffic is banked up all along Pt Wakefield highway all the way back to the salisbury highway extension!
