Hi All,

I'm moving to Tassie in a month, and was wondering if there is a SAU club for Tassie??

I've had a good look arounf but buggered if I can find any mention of one, I know there is one for NSW of course.

The main reason I'm asking now is that I'd really like to drive at Oran park (NSW) before I move - plus Oran Park won't be around for much longer.

To do this I need a CAMS licence, which also requires membership in a CAMS-affliated club...

Failing a Tas SAU club, as an R34 owner, can anyone reccomend a suitable motorsport club in Tassie that is CAMS affliated?

I'm hoping to be at oran park on either the 31st March or April 1st -I only found out about these events last night.

Anyway, if anyone can point me in the right direction that'd be great :D

Cheers

Hi mate

There are several cams affiliated clubs in tassy,If club days are your bag then the light car club is pretty good located in the north.

I have been a member for around 15 year on and off, found them to be great and supportive also the members are easy to work with.

All of the committy members are more interested in running good club days and other events.

Sorry man sounds like i am biast.

Hey Wayne

no SAU club as there are not really enough members to warrant it and we are all members of a CAMS affiliated club within are region.

Depending if you are going to be southern or northern based really, all clubs have pros and cons but if your going to be based in the south then look at joining Hobart Sporting Car Club where you will receive a discount anytime you use Baskerville Raceway as a member ($55 instead of $100) they run the Tasmanian Super Series (circuit racing) multiple club days, Tassie Drift Series and practice days and one of the longest running car clubs in Australia :)

We will be having a SAU cruise/get together soon so hopefully you can attend and meet everyone >_<

Cheers Ben

I'll throw in the Motorsports Club of Tasmania as another which is actively expanding its footings to include circuit racers and alike, still very much a Rally club. We are not yet affiliated with the track's but hope to do so this year. Most events are multi-club anyway. So unless private track hire is your biggest concern, thats a third club to consider.

Based in Launceston. Membership is only $45 pa

G'day everyone,

Thanks so much for the replies.

I didnt get any email alerts that anyone had responded to this thread, so sorry for taking a while to get back here.

I might be cutting things too fine, trying to get this all wrapped up in time for the 31st, so I might have to nix the idea for Oran Park...

Plus I'm busy preparing to move to Tassie... so much to do!

However, I certainly do have every intention of doing track days in Tassie, so your info is still very handy indeed.

Look forward to settling in down there and meeting some of you

I'm just about to head out, so I'll check back in on the thread later on and read it properly.

Have a good one :D
