mm, i dont know how old u are, but im still young so it wasnt long ago that me and my mates were 17, definately a lot of people i know around my age i think are dangerous in cars, although i have to say, most of those guys havnt even stepped near an import, mostly either commies, or other cheaper cars and they arnt even close to what id call car enthusiasts, they didnt need power to turn those things in to death traps. most of my mates with imports id trust driving my car, some i have doubts about :whistling: but most i trust enough with a car that i not only feel safe in their cars while driving, but to drive my own car.

saying 98% of 17yr olds dont have the right attitude to drive a powerful car is something that id expect from a 50year old hoon hunter  especially considering most of my mates dont even give a shit about cars and just use them to get from A to B.

yah 12k for a car with bodykit held together by masking tape

as for which car

+1 to whoever recommended a 33 GTS4

well if u read properly andy i did say the kit is on properly now... ive said dat twice now lol. well i recon he should get watever he wants, he should be able to handle a turbo car if he drives his dads holden SS 5.7l v8.

Yeah and the biggest problem with these recent posts is that we are generalizing a bit.

We aren't talking about the driving experience of a 17 year old racing car driver, we're talking about Kyle (rustykilla) who has asked for our advice.

Not putting Kyle down by any means, but I don't recall him saying he has had years of track experience so we're getting off on a tangent I think.

i think this conversation has run its course

saying 98% of 17yr olds don't have the right attitude to drive a powerful car

at no time did i say powerful car almost most 17 yr old men should be driving cars around there mates

btw im double the age of aforementioned 17 yr old, i know how young HOT blooded males think being one my self and i by no means am out of that stage i just manage it a little better i hope

i appealed for my 1 point, but aslong as i got my license ^_^ its all that matters.

ah ok, very good....now you just have to be a good boy for 12 mths otherwise you lose it for 6 mths.

i never said they had to be a race driver, using the track was just an example. going to a few practice days to get a feel for ur car is a bit different to being a race car driver.

my opinion is why get a performance car when you're not gonna use it for what it's made for? might as well get an excel. i didn't get my r33 to get to work and back, i brought it for what it's made for and now since we might turn into a club i'm very interested in getting CAMS and going on the track rather then the hills!

but get whatever you want mate! if you end up getting a turbo or something and you crash it! don't say most of these guys didn't tell you so

so u would say 98% of ur friends had that same attitude? i gotta say, looking around at my mates a few years ago, most of my mates werent even that interested in cars or going fast, so i struggle to see how u could come up with such a high figure.

but yeh, i think the conversation is getting away from the original topic.

he should be able to handle a turbo car if he drives his dads holden SS 5.7l v8.

is that right? i took a 1000nm r32 gtr for s spin but still i can't handle my own car properly! can you please tell me why?

yeh ive thought about that before, i enjoy driving my car around on the streets, although i do think its kind of pointless to modify ur car heaps if it just sees driving on the streets. but i dont see anything wrong in wanting a lightly modified import just for around the streets.

+1 for the na r31.... it will get u used to driving and developing those defensive driving skills... also tell your parents to organise and pay for a AAMI defensive driving coarse once you have your car... it will give you an opertunity to learn about it in a controlled environment.... then when u want more power in your r31 just dump an rb20det in there... reletively cheap these days do the work yourself wait a year then u will be ready for an upgrade 34 gtt etc.

good luck mate :whistling:

i can so tell the difference between a turbo or NA ahaha cos na sounds like shit lol

ummmm.... sure... and your trying to give advice?

rather than recomending a car to you, im going to sugest a few things you ned to consider, owning a car isn't just buying it:

1) insurance!! a turbo at 17 is going to cost ALOT to insure it, their may be about 2 companies (just cars and youg and cool) that'll insure you, if your keen on getting a turbo, get quotes from them before you buy anything!!

2) the cost and dificulty to maintain, jap import turbo parts cost $$$$$... if something you cant predict goes wrong with the car, it'll cost you much more than you might think to get it back up and running. also the engine bays can be harder to work on just because there is more stuff cramed into them

3) the cost of petrol!!! big power cost much more in petrol (something you may be overlooking)

just remember that while your first car is something that you'll always remember and cherish it doesnt need to be your dream car, the fact of the matter is its something for you to learn in, learn about driving, learn about maintinance, learn about parking, learn about acidents, learn about avoiding acidents, learn how to drive a manual (without destrying a gear box)... its NOT about showing off to your friends, nor is it about trying to break road rules...

Not sure if your first post has been edited, but you never mentioned anything about wanting a turo in it, which is sensible, from there on out just choose an NA version of the car you like the look of the most... there will be minimal differeance in secondary costs between the various types of a jap imports, only way you can reduce those is to get a aus delivered car

hope this helps

LOL HAHAHA very funny i want something with a bit of style i want to spend about 7-10k maybe a bit over, my mum is fine with the car thing its just my dad he dosent want me getting something with a turbo but F*** what he says....

oh wait you did mention turbo.... also made yourself seem like a complete tool, no wonder everyone is flaming you

your apparent lack of respect showen to your father (someone who obviousally likes cars and knows about them) would lead people on these fourms to beleive you have a lack of respect for the law, others and their property and your own car... may i sugest you hold off on your purchase of a car and ride everywhere on your bike instead, at least untill you man up a bit

but for everyone else 17 and still on Ps and wanting a jap import, my pervious post should surfice
