Get a manual, non turbo R33 coupe. 10k will get you a good one with less than 100km on the clock. Tack on $1200 a year for insurance (full comp with just car, but $3000 excess), another $200-300 for initial service and $300-400ish for rego. They're a tough engine and without the added stress from a turbo, even a trashed one will still be in pretty good nick.

Car looks good, will be louder than a turbo, won't drain your wallet on fuel, you'll smoke pretty much every other P plater out there (are there laws against P platers driving turbos in NSW?) and you can spend the next 3-4 years dressing her as you please. Rims, kit, paint, whatever. After that sell it and buy your turbo whatever.

Actually, I'll add a funny story that happened yesterday. My mate and I were out the front of my place talking (he was about to leave) when we hear this car absolutely revving its guts out maybe a street or two away. Moments after we hear the scream of tires as the car comes to a screeching halt. We continue talking, and about 10 minutes later a brand spanking new black Holden Ute with P plates comes around the corner, the front left all smashed in. Right behind it comes another P plater with about four people inside.

No doubt Mr. New Ute was trying to show off his new car. Well, he certainly gave his mates a show.

Kieran's right ( well i cant really talk i bought a already turbo-ed car )

but thats the exact same thing i was going to do

i was going to a get a r32 and well drive it and do all that stuff

then get into putting a kit on the car and audio and

then the engine

and than get defected.

dont wanna whore up the thread... but pics of this v6 ute would be nice and a list of mods.... thats alotta power?? even an r32gtst manual will flame most newish commos

oh sorry i forgot in my day we didnt get lessons :D

now in my mums day they just took the local copper for a drive around the block to show they can drive

lol Steve, your mum can't be that old, thats how I got my licence from the old Goodwood cop shop.

I didn't even get to go right around the block but he still signed the papers and told my mum that I was a pretty shitty parker.

Got my learners at the Plympton cop shop by answering 4 compulsory diagram questions then a further 12 questions which you only needed to get 8 right.

Only needed to have my learners permit for a minimum of 4 weeks before getting my full licence.......no 'P' plates in those days.

Once you had a car licence you only had to pay $12 to get your 250cc bike permit which would automatically convert to a full licence after 12 mths.

I think if I had a GTR when I was 17, I wouldn't be around today.

lol agree's Pete

but when mum got her license it was from nothing to full with a trip around the block

she must be a pretty shitty parker too then....cops didn't care too much about that stuff in those days, all cars had massive chrome bumper bars back then.
