This has been in discussion for over 6 months now. 3 corporations are getting together to build the venue for circuit racing (another Mallala), with a drag strip, and other hardstand areas for training etc. Work is meant to begin in 6-9 months and will take 15 months to complete. Location is not yet definite, but will be located in the north, north-western suburbs of Adelaide. I am aware of this project, but thats all I can disclose right now.

As far as getting the hoons of the streets ... it won't be cheap. Circuit racing doesn't come cheap and night shifts at Maccas won't get them far. The hoons will still be on the streets, but its the sensible drivers who will take to the track.

It won't be more affordable. Do you really think a brand newly laid track closer to the city population will be any cheaper than a rundown shit hole like Mallala? Still, give me Mallala any day. I know all the lines and bumps and cambers and can do 1m17s all day.

Its just as easy to turn on your TV dude. :laughing-smiley-014:

hey mate, as far as the hoons go, well, thats life. i can tell you me and many other people are more than happy to pay a reasonable fee for practice days, around the $100 mark. as far as spectators i think its fair to charge a touch more if the facilities are decent.

as i mentioned before, drift is becoming very big in motorsport, and its only going up, i think it would be very beneficial for the designers to really take into account the sport. are you aware of any plans to consult the drift community as far as track design goes? i know it sounds like a big ask, but if they were to secure some of the big rounds of drift competitions im sure it could help out the track a lot, as i mentioned with the massive crowds drift already pulls at places like mallala.

Not sure if 'drifting' is on the cards. EPA approval for that form of noise above ambient noise levels will need to be considered.

And as far as I know the owner of Mallala has a contract with the drift organisers. So long as they don't renew their contract in the next 2 years, it could be applied for at this new track. Keep in mind too that CAMS will have a say in the matter.

I won't even hazard a guess to what the entry fee will be for a 'practice day' type event, but my "gut feeling" says it could be over $150 for the obvious facilities/CAMS licensing/insurance reasons. But I'm only guessing here.

If drift isnt on the cards, then the organisers havent done their home work. Mallala may be contracted to DA but that wouldnt stop the organisers starting their own state round like G1, and holding drift prac nights and what not, The demand is there and they would be silly not to take in account of the large drift scene in Adelaide.

drift cars are not going to be any noiser then other planned cars on the track... if theres a drag strip ui can tell you no drift car on the face of the earth is going to come close to making the same noise as a top fuel drag car lol.

woohooo its only a mater of time really

yeh sorry, when i read it again it didnt seem very clear.

i think garden island would be a huge mistake for the complex and the reason been .

noise travels really well over water and garden island is too close to all the new housing developments on the docks at port adeliade . people who have just paid a shitload of money to live there in there new apartments ect ect will kick up something fierce about the noise the very reason rowly park speedway was shut down and the very same reason speedway city now has a curfew on it .

last thing we need as motor sport fans dosent matter drags/drift/circuit racing or speedway is a new complex thats cost millions and have bloody time curfews put on it right from the start

we need a new complex thats all in one no argument there but the location has to be right so we can all enjoy it without restrictions

cheers mid life crisis
