i am near a town called Tully, which has the highest rainfall in Australia every year, and when it rains its farkin rails hard and for ages, but the wet season is near christmas time so i wont be around them.

We are doing something similiar to high flowing a turbo, replacing the turbine runners with bigger runners, new shafts etc.

its a hydro electric turbine. The 2 big wheels on the ousides get driven by flowing water which flows in from the adjoining gorge which is 400m above the inlet valve. The wheels spin at 600rpm which produces 12,500BHP to the stator which inturn creates electrical power which is transfered to the transformer system and then into the main power grid.

There are 4 of these units which we are upgrading.

Would be a fair bit of lag though I imagine :D but once they're churning YEE HAA :whip:

The shaft in the centre looks very similar to that which drives the platter on a Technics 1200 [turntable] which is magnetically operated, thats why I was asking...
