There somthing wrong with my R34 (GTT-no engine modification)... It began long time before I was cruising down the freeway, and then some dude went to change the line, so i just released a bit of my gas pedal then when he moved lane i tried to accelerate again but all of a sudden the engine, TCS off, slip lights came on, which apparently results in my car wont accel like it should do, the sound from my exhaust is somehow roaring and coughing.. and it does vibrate more when u tried to boot the gas pedal... But when I pulled over, and leave it for a minute or two, its completely back to normal, but u can smell like rubber burning from near the rear wheel... Keep getting this kind of problem but not too often, anyway my 5000k service is due in 2 weeks anyway, i thought so ill just wait..

Anyway I brought my car to 5000k service over in down under auto who also imported my car.. ask them bout the problem, but after the service they said nothing's wrong with ur car

Well the problem still came occasionally and will be gone if u leave it for a minute or two, went to the auto tune once and they said u gotta go to a garage who has the computer shit for R34, so it is easier to find, just plug it in and u'll know where did it go wrong...

I havent had a chance to do it though since i dont know which garage has one.. and the problem didnt pop up lately...

But around 5 days ago the problem came again when i actually wait for my order in mcd drivethru without anyhing to do with the gas pedal or clutch and another one came yesterday when i waited my friend with an engine on like exactly happened in mcd drivethru?

So has anyone overcome this problem or have any idea about what it is? Help me guys!!?

Thanks alot for reading it anyway...

okai from wat i can see your exhaust is hitting against the chassy and possibly against some sort of rubber goods. bring it to a shop to check that the exhaust is actually not against anything...and is secure.

secondly the TSC is tracion control, if u suddently boot your car the computer will sense this and slow your car down....usually makn your car bob around a lil, which comes back to your exhaust not being secure.

if u dont want TSC on...switch it off...and boot the car as hard as u like and it wont stop u. but be warned it may equal to you wrapped around a pole if u dont no wat ur doing

:D Make some sort of sense actually caused i happened to get crashed from behind not long ago.. cheers man.. But the it actually (TCS off) lights that came on, so i assume that TCS is already off when that happens..I see that the computer actually slow me down, but by lowering the sensitivity of the gas pedal? :P , cause when the problem happens, the car wont accelerate the way it should be, and when i tried to boot the pedal harder, the car still revving but definately vibrate way more (i mean like way2 more) but no acceleration..

Anyway man ur such a help, will tell the mechanics to check the exhaust system for sure!!

anyone else have any other idea, the thing is i want to get as many idea as i could from u guys, last time i went to get it serviced, DUA charged me the extra hours but the results is none (wasnt very happy :D )!! dont want that to happen twice..

Hey mate, I live in New Zealand and I have an R34 GTT. I am 100% sure that your problem is coil packs. I had this same problem. The car sounds more like a subaru than a skyline right?

If you leave it then over time the problem will get worse and worse and the car will run permanently like that.

Also if you take it somewhere and have the computer plugged in, they wont be able to tell either unless it is doing it at the time.

What you need to do is pull over when it is doing this and disconnect the coil pack leads down the middle of the engine one by one.

When you disconnect a bad coil pack lead the 'miss' sound you hear will not change but if you disconnect a good coil pack lead then the sound will get rougher.

This is not a big problem just means the car is running on less than 6 cylinders because one or more of the coil packs may have a hairline crack in it and the spark is getting out and arching on the metal.

Once you have replaced/repaired the faulty coil pack/s it is a good idea to change the oil and oil filter as a lot of unburnt fuel is dumped into the oil.

I know that a factory replacement from Nissan costs around $250 NZ (too much), second hand ones are around $80 NZ (waste of time), aftermarket ones vary in price, I'm going to go for Splitfire coil packs from www.nengun.com which will be around $750 NZ for 6 and they also increse power slightly and are way stronger than factory ones.

If your a tight ass, then you can take out the problem coil pack and put some araldite over the crack if you can find it (I can't in mine) let that dry for a day or two then put some elctrical tape around it then put it back in. Very simple thing to do anyone can.

Have Fun and Your Welcome. :O

Yusssss! first post! :D
