Data Recovery Help!

Ok so about 1 hour ago I plugged my Ipod into the computer Itunes came up and for some annoying reason just restarted my Ipod to it's factory settings..

I hadn't backed it up because I was going to do that this weekend.

I have just lost about 30GIG worth of documents & photos on my Ipod. I really need these back because there are a lot of extremely important documents on there including your documents beloved SAU events!

I rang up a few Data recovery companies but they say it will be about $270 + GST

Does anyone have any other Ideas as to what I can do to get these documents back..

Have you looked around for data recovery software?

If you right click "my computer" and go to manage does your ipod come up as an extra drive on the computer?

No they are not questionable photos!

They are every SAU event are more so!

Not really I don't want to touch it and f**k it up

Not on this computer it doesn't I did on my co workers and it comes up but it's all the factory settings

Whatever you do corinne, DO NOT load anything onto the iPod... If you do, you'll be overwriting your files permanently.

Most likely its just the fat table thats been deleted so the files are still there, you just need software to recover it. If you write anything onto the ipod though it will overwrite your old stuff.

Dont you have another copy of the data? How is it possible to have a copy of the data on the ipod without having another copy on the computer? Doesnt it have to 'sync' with the computer to copy the data off? :confused:

By the way... I wouldnt recommend following barons advice about just plugging it into another computer. If itunes on the other PC tries to sync files to the device it will wipe your data for sure

I wouldn't take Barons advice if he paid me, he's so dodgy..

I don't have it synced to one computer. I do it manually so that I can steal everyone else's music.
