Been looking into it for a while now but cant seem to find much info

Is it worth putting on a RB26 Intake man on a 25 and can it be done???

IF so who has done this and how much will I be looking at?

IMHO it would only be worth it if your going to keep the ITBs, otherwise get one designed for the RB25.

Check this recent thread out on the subject... http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Rb...ap-t208070.html

The stock RB25 manifold will support 500hp.Only get a Greddy one if you are chasing every KW.

i was waiting for that one.

standard plenum will support 2000hp...............if you stick enough boost into it.

the change of intake manifold/plenum is to improve on the poor properties of a standard plenum...therefore doing a better job of what the existing one on there is currently doing. if the new plenum is doing its job the benefits are increased power and torque everywhere.

effeciency is the key...its not what you do (because its more than likely been done before) but how you do it which makes it impressive

Well than, put it this way. The stock intake manifold is not very inefficient up to 500hp. I switched mine, along with cams and more boost, and I'm only making about 30-40hp more.

30-40hp with cams and more boost? Something a miss there.

I bolted a greddy copy plenum on, best upgrade i ever done.. cheap too...helps with intake temps, throttle response is unreal and the mid range and top end is good and most of all ya engine bay looks how a engine bay should look nice and tidy.

there is alot of controversy surronding this copy item however i am willing to give it a go. Just wondering what most people did with the location of their bov?? did u have to have another pipe made up etc?? someone pm me the answer (if needs to be made up who is brisbane would be good for it) also would you be able to use some of the old style hybrid piping?? Hame

that's about every possible reason you would ever have to change it...

The center feed style that the OEM plenum uses is actually a lot better for sharing PSI evenly to every cylinder, where unless you run some extra boost, larger plenums such as those from Plazmaman, can sometimes cause a bit of starvation... again this only really matters if you are chasing every last KW...

All the other reasons though are valid... Keeps inlet temp down cause the piping doesn't run straight back over the fan on the radiator, OR the block... Increases throttle response due to shorter piping... looks a SHIT TONNE better... all good reasons :)

I had a GKtech intercooler kit with your normal style intercooler piping going between fan shroud etc..

i re used it, had to cut up one 90 degree bend and re used a bit of black 90 degree silicon i had from the stock cooler and it all bolted up sweet as.. mind u i took out my washer bottle, still yet to re mount a smaller one...

with mine i have the GTR style piping that comes out of the side wall which allows the washer bottle to stay in place (although think i will replace soon with alloy one etc..) i suppose when i go to do it i'll find out, i just need to have the bov welded onto the cooler pipe coming out of cooler. (any suggestings where in brisbane??) I doing up my plenum now. will show pics when it is finished:D cheers hame

i think its time to change tuner/mechanic or who ever recommended the combination because there is certainly something not right there.

drdoof - how do you know that ? do a search of my posts and you will find some flow test figures of the standard plenum, note 28" is approx 1psi of pressure, and you will soon see how the standard one distributes air.

Yeah, the exhaust side of my hybrid dodge cummins/yellow bus turbo is choking the shit out of my motor. I need a bigger exh side. I already have the turbine housing, I just need a HX40 wheel. My pressure ratio's in the exh manifold must be through the roof.

To be honest, mostly hearsay and guess work... You coulda provided a link to your work :) I will go searching...

    • Which manifold mate? Meanwhile......Mark is wondering how bonnet vents would look on the NC 🤣
    • Actually,  just remembered there should be info in the threads (somewhere) about swapping to a manual steering rack and deleting power steering all together.
    • Also had a look at the Nissan JP website looks like the 400r has a slightly shorter ratio than than the regular V37 3.133 VS 2.937 which from a guy who has driven both 3.69 vs 4.11 ratios in the S15 is bugger all. Seems that the AUTO Z runs the same ratio as the 400R but can't find any info as to if its an open or LSD? More often than not the auto LSD is open
    • Do not replace the power steering lines with this stuff. If it's anything like the Chase Bays stuff it will leak and be worse than stock. The reason why the reservoir is on the LH/passenger side of the car is because that's just where the reservoir was most convenient to fit. Don't overthink this stuff. The intake/cold side of the engine is pretty busy on these cars. And again, the hardpipe is designed to be a janky power steering cooler. In theory you can replace it with a real power steering cooler but that's really only for track use where boiling the fluid is a distinct possibility. Start with the low pressure lines feeding the pump from the reservoir. Make sure there isn't a bunch of junk in the reservoir filter. Be careful to not get ATF all over the engine bay. I hate dealing with ATF spills, you can clean it up and the slightest crevice will still release more oil that can still drip over time. You also want to inspect for leaks before you make a mess and can't tell what happened. Most likely you have a leak somewhere that is allowing fluid out and air in. Failing that it's allowing air in but not fluid out. Only place I can really see that happening is on the low pressure side because the pump will pull a slight vacuum to draw fluid in. Everything after the pump is high pressure or lower pressure, approaching atmospheric by the time it returns to the reservoir.
    • I did a skidpan night at SMSP this week, it was much cheaper than $350. But yeah, you need to slap an LSD in that thing.  I put an OS Giken in the 370Z and it's f**king MARVELOUS even compared to Nissan's viscous LSD. So you're saying it's free now that it's a housing estate? 😂
