Hey guys,

I picked myself up a used HKS 60mm GT-II wastegate. Problem is it came without an instruction manual. Im trying to work out how to use the special tools that come with the gate to safely and securely put the gate back together with the new springs in it.

Its got a threaded rod with a keyway with a female thread in the end which I assume screws down onto the end of the valve stem, but from there i cant see how to use the nut with the keyway or anything. If someone has an instruction manual lying around they could scan, or a quick rundown how to get this damn thing back together, it'd be great.

Cheers! :O

Hey man,

VERY nice gate, had a deposit on one a few months ago.

Pictures tell a 1000 but.

I'm assuming you received it with the top hat already off, otherwise you would have mentioned the TWANG when it flew off - lol.

As the springs in there have an amount of preload, you can use a vice with soft jaws to clamp the hat on, then just bolt it all up; following normal "criss cross" patterns and multiple stages of tourqing. Be careful not to pinch the diaphragm. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable with HKS gates can help.

Hope this helps

Yeah it is an awesome gate. And yep, it did make a nice TWANG as the top flew up in the air about 5m. Just to confirm, I have this gate: http://hksusa.com/images_products/2067.jpg

Nice idea about the vice. I have a press so I think ill use that instead. Im just curious as to how the special tools that come with it work. You can see in the pic there is the rod with a keyway, a nut, and a 10mm length of tube.
