What the f**k is happening in that city? I thought living conditions have improved in the past 4 years ive been away...?

I feel it is harder now to get by (on a slightly below-average working wage) then what it was 4 yrs ago

so no, I truely dont believe living conditions have improved

In fact, looking at our infrastructure (roads/health/education) you can see that the $$ needed to keep everything rosy just hasnt been spent (in the right areas).

my opinion only. doesnt excuse crime tho.

in the big scheme of things police do have alot on their plates, murders etc. not trying to get up anyone, but just something to think about, from their point of view a stolen car is a stolen car, regardless of if its a $500 corolla or $40k gtr, that, and they are pretty badly understaffed.

this is the thing, you could run that past me if i didnt see petty stuff having time spent on it, but these imports are still getting defected for stupid things at massive rates, a lot of time is being spent on defecting cars like this, but no where near enough is being spent on finding and preventing these cars from being stolen.

stealing a car is a lot more serious crime than having tyres that are 10mm over standard width, but heres the thing, crime prevention costs resources, defects create resources. which would u chose to spend ur time on? they arnt idiots, they have a business to run, unfortunately it comes at a cost to the general public.

Yep, about 5 years ago, we motorists were speeding less and less, so the plods were getting less and less. So they decided to lower speed limits to 50 and stick cameras everywhere. They can't find the criminals, so they're making us criminals. We are wallets on wheels ... plain and simple.

is it safe parking in malls? how about when visiting friends and parking in the street?

I always park next to expensive cars. 1) They'll get nicked first before I do; and 2) They won't go throwing their doors open.

:P

shouldnt say what you going to do on here, keep it to yourself because i think they would be on sau too... =D

sif it matters....

if they know then they might be detered and maybe stop

If they dont know, they get f**ked up

If they know and get f*ked up then they deserve to get f*kd up

:stupid:

Just heard from Nene again. The useless cops wouldn't even help her push the car back down the street to her driveway. Lazy f**kers!

I'm driving over after work to push it for her. Might even lend her the Stag if she still can't get her car going.

:P

good idea bout a bait car! about time it gets done and goodluck catching the scum.

It pisses me off you cant leave a skyline anywhere, the only place I leave mine out of sight is in my garage locked up behind another 2 cars. Even with an Alarm and immobilizer I try not to leave it out of sight. I even drive with my doors locked my friends just call me paranoid but I dont want to take that chance.

bait car idea will never happen,

everyones been saying that for months.

oh and make sure to post up the location of the bait car so that the theifs can get on here and know where it is, we might have more advertisment and more luck of it being stolen then :P

Crazy.. I'd be in on a bait car... Mines been stolen before so its not gunna be mine. Mines parked every night behind gates with the club lock on and at work with the club lock on. would never leave my car on the street, how do you ppl that park your cars on the street not worry about it? Mine was parked at the end of the driveway i couldnt stop thinking about it and going out every 2 seconds to check on it... Guess ya havta have your car stolen to think about these things.

Hey Guys, it was my car that NEARLY got stolen. At first thought it was gone, then ended up walking out and looking down the road to see it in the middle of the road down the end of the street. At this stage i am at a loss as to explain how they got in, NO lock damage, NO broken windows, and the alarm was on which they DIDNT set off??? There are however two gouges in the front of the door panel where it dips in to go around the edge of the dash that are so deep that they almost go through the door panel, so im not sure what they were doing there. The ignition barrel is completely farked, the next issue is how to get the barrel off when you cant undo the bolts to the bracket that holds it on???

As for the usual comments of why was it on the driveway...well lets see....4 cars, 2 undercover car parking spaces...hows that math work for ya? As arrogant as it may seem to say, the GTR is one of the two cheaper ones that get chosen to sit outside, and as i said, it, and all the others have alarms. I will never sell my toys just because some dropkick no money having f*ck decides they want to take them, however, if i should catch the dropkick no money having f*ck while they are trying to take my toys...well then someones getting an ass whooping, and it wont be me! :thanks:

As far as the cops, theres some real bright sparks there. The cop rocks up, looks in the car and goes, "your ignition is ripped out".....well derrr....really officer, thanks for pointing that out, i was stumped as to why i couldnt start it!!!! Nene was less than impressed at that stage...lol.

The car is in a safer position tonight, however i am tempted to put it back on the drive way and sit and wait with my trusty baseball bat....whats that, oh sorry officer, i was waiting for my friend to come round with his baseball so we could play catch when this nasty person tried to steal my car...lmao

Wana come round with that baseball Roo? lol

PS Nene said she would be happy to take you up on your offer of borrowing the RS4.....she said she will take real good care of it! :D

Now that all said.....anyone want to buy a GTR?? After i fix it of course....or for a better price if you want it as is...lol. no really....im serious.....

dudes...

what we should do is import some blowtorches from China (my bro got them for AUD$140 and $80 postage), hook the switch to our car's alarm system, set it to minimum, so when a person sits in the driver's seat and try hot-wiring the pride and joy, he will get a bit of a scar to remember it by.

im so sick of people keying, scratching, stealing, tossing shit at the car!!! Gosh!!!

Just heard from Nene again. The useless cops wouldn't even help her push the car back down the street to her driveway. Lazy f**kers!

try and keep the derogatory comments out of it, im sure we all have strong opinions about SAPOL, but they do read these forums and the last thing we need is to increase the reputation car enthusiasts have of being anti-authority.

    • You're not wrong, but more than a few times I've heard of people running into issues where their injector characterization isn't quite right and that approach works for that specific configuration but once they switch over to a new set they discover a whole bunch of stuff wasn't set up correctly. It's slightly more annoying to reverse engineer the OEM MAF transfer function but you already have the sensor wired up to the factory harness so keeping it around for a few weeks more while you figure out the tune is easy enough. I've seen GM also use a combination of both MAF + MAP in their ECUs before, MAF is for steady state and a calculation of the cylinder VE to correct the base VE table, then in transients it uses that calculated VE + raw MAP to determine cylinder filling somehow.
    • I know this one’s the BB one. My tuner did make mention about the actuator. I am curious about the VCT as well
    • Might also needs a stronger actuator with the right preloading. With older 2019 built bush G3 units, BB upgrade or 21U housing down size makes a pretty decent gain in response as well.
    • Hey lads  so im finally putting together my rb30 forged bottom end and ran into an issue. I measured my main bearing clearance with arp main studs torqued to 60 ft-lbs using ACL H series STD size bearings and standard, un-ground crank shaft journals and got an oil clearance reading of about 1.3 thou measuring straight up and down and about 2.8 thou measuring at a 45 degree angle (just above and below the parting line). My machine shop said they measured the main tunnel and it was all within spec (they didnt say the actual measurement) and to go with a standard size bearing, which i have done and the clearance is too tight, I'm guessing because of the extra clamping force from the arp studs distorting the main tunnel. I was wanting to run about 2.5 thou main bearing clearance.  My questions are: 1. could i just use the HX extra 1 thou clearance ACL bearings? that would fix my straight up and down clearance making it about 2.3 thou, but then would the side to side clearance be too big at around 3.8 thou? 2. what actually is the recommended main bearing clearance for measuring near the parting line / side to side. i know its supposed to be bigger as the bearing has some eccentricity built into it but how much more clearance should there be compared to the straight up and down measurement? at the moment there is about 1.5thou difference, is that acceptable or should it be less? 3. If i took the engine block + girdle back to the machine shop and got them to line bore the main tunnel (like i told them to do the first time, but they said it didnt need it) what bearing size would i buy? the STD size bearing shells already slide in fairly easily with no real resistance, some even falling out if i tip the girdle up-side-down. If im taking material out of the main tunnel would i need a bearing with extra material on the back side to make up for it? this is probably confusing af to read so if something doesn't make sense let me know and ill try explaining in a different way. My machine shop doesn't come back from christmas break until mid January, hence why i'm asking these questions here. TIA for any help or info
    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard
