Nissan should be able to get one cut for you if you give them your VIN. You can try getting yours copied from a regular key place, but be warned they dont always work. I got one copied at a locksmith and it just didnt work for some reason..

Actually kind of a related unrelated story - I locked my keys in the car once, and I got a locksmith to come out and break into it for me. He fashioned a key from OUTSIDE of the car which opened the door, and started the car!!! It took him about 15 minutes. He just stood there with his little portable key grinder, and created a key just from feeling the pins as the key went in and out of the door. It's amazing that he could do that, but the key the locksmith copied from the original didnt work!!

When i got my car from the dealer it only had one key with it.. was a key with the 2 buttons on it, Got quoted from nissan $330 trade Ex japan. Ended up getting another key off them, its just a plain silver key.$5 bucks for the key, $6.60 to get it cut!

If u like i could get the part number and u could go to nissan with it.

Ok here are the pics of the two keys.

One on the left is the one i got with the car, the right one is the $5 dollar one from Nissan

When looking for keys, Shaft length is the most important thing to watch out for..

this is the best way of knowing it is correct

Hope this helps everyone

*sorry bout the large pics*

I've had my key copied from Mr Minit. The copied will open the doors and boot, but won't turn on the engine. The key cost me like $7. They also said that they could copy the key with the central locking etc for around $270. I've got the same type of key from the photos so not too sure it has a chip in it.

Mick you can get remote keys done through Mr Minit for $130ish - It's the same key as a Patrol.

No the patrol key has a shorter shaft on it than my key.. compared it to kims dads key.

R33, stageas might be the same but the R34 is different

Jeep Keys are usually chipped that's why.

I found that out. Freaking $80 for a key only and another $180 for a button.

My skyline key works fine & its from the locksmiths. Never had an issue with it.

Buy a genuine key blank and take it, along with one of your door lock barrels to a reputable locksmith so it gets cut properly.

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
