Hi Everyone,

Im considering a pair of bride seats but want to know how the compare to the R33 GTR factory seats.

Sure the bride's are lighter, but how do they compare as far as comefort goes... especially when going for a long drive of a few hours.

Also how do they compare as a seat to hold you in place when your cornering hard?

I've never seen a bride seat up close so i have no idea what the quality is like either. Are they as well made as a factory seat?

Been for a ride in a friends car with Bride Recliners (ergos i think) Found them to be firm and quite narrow(so they wouldnt be comfortable on long drives, but great for trackwork). They appear to be well made, although i did notice some fading from the sunlight on the sides of the seat. I prefer my 33 GTR seats they are a good allrounder.

Is there any reason you are considering bride seat if you've never seen one or sat in one, as they are one of the most expensive? is it just for the brand name?

I got a sparco racing bucket and I think that is great... Never sat in a gtr seat but the gtr seat is still a reclinable and I feel would never match a full bucket...

I've done a few hours in it in one stint and while its a little warm on a hot day, I forgive it for that since it holds me in snug.

Truth be told the seats are for my vw. I like the GTR seats a lot though so i figured I'd either stick with what I know i like and get a pair for the vw, or i'd go something light weight, carbon fibre/kevlar/fiberglass or whatever. They have to be strong though too, and ADR approved. The vw is being rebuilt as a motorkarna drag and car, so I need to keep the weight down where possible as there is a fair amount of additional steel re-enforcing in the chassis now.

I dont care about the brand name and they would be covered anyway. Im not into showing off brands. Let the companies pay for their own advertising.

I've been looking at sparco's too. They seem decent enough.

DLOOOK, how wide is your ass that they are too small for you? Or perhaps what size chicks's ass would be a good fit to the seat?

Brides are not adr approved. and only some models are FIA approved.

If you want ADR approved, and brilliant seats to boot, get some VELO's.....

Made in Aus, ADR approved, different sizings, FIA approved as well, and cheaper than the Brides.Look great, different colours, and, a lot more comfortable. :blink::P:thumbsup:

I was looking at the Bride recliners the other day too. Very nice. Id really like to get a seat in them before shelling out for something i might not like though. I think R34 seats are the way to go, because they hold their value and if i dont like them i can move them on easily enough.

Well ive decided to stick with the old seats for a while till the car is driving again. Ive made much stronger seat mounts this time because last time I was out street tuning the car it tore the drivers seat spot welds from the floor in 3rd gear and I ended up in the back seat.

For those that PM'd me and wanted to see a pic of what Ive built.. here is the chassis nearly finished.

Specs are that its a 1966 VW chassis base, very modified and re-enforced

Wheel base, wheel track, steering angles etc are all identical to a Porsche 1992 968

Alignments of camber, caster, front and rear toe are all adjustable, and are set to a track tune for a 911, being a rear engined car.

1992 Porsche 968 front A-arm's, spindles and 4 spot porsche/brembo brakes

1992 Porsche 968 alloy trailing arms with 4 spot porsche/brembo brakes

1986 Porsche 911 turbo 4 speed, rebuilt by albins. Handles over 750hp, but it will be seeing about 500 max.

Hydraulic clutch conversion

Custom whiteline anti roll bars

Custom valved Tein super streets, (modified honda civic)

Porsche 924 rack and pinion steering conversion

Hargett racing short shifter

Porsche 996 Cup3 18x8 and 18x10's with RE55 semi slicks

Aiming for about 850kg dry weight with a roll cage.

Was engineered and approved 2 weeks ago. 100% road legal modifications. 14 modification codes in all. The silver vw body in my signature will be on it in about 2 months, and the engine in about 2 months after that. Engine parts are still being fabricated at the moment.

Yes I am crazy but building this in my garage has kept me out of a padded cell.

i had a bride seat in my rx7 race car and well, ive got gtr seats in my gtr.. lol

its such a hard decision really.. like the gtr seats are fkn awesome, but so were the brides lol

They both look great, not that it matters coz when ur sitting in them, u cant see them :D

as far as value goes... dont brides cost alot?? they did 4 years ago :)

Yes the Zeta III's do look nice. Im sitting on the edge of getting buckets and having to un-bolt them every time i need to get into the back of the car, or keeping reclinables of some sort.

That VW is insane!! I'd love to do a project like that, except I cant afford it, Parents won't let me have the space, and don't know what I'm doing ;).

Bride seats usually look better and more sporty then the GT-R seats, but not sure which is more comfortable

    • The interesting part of tests like IM240 is they measure the exhaust output. But they never measure the gases going into the engine... Imagine doing the test in a densely populated city with higher CO2 levels around... Instant disadvantage...
    • I have two German Shepherds that like to bite things that are in places they shouldn't be. Plus the cars/batteries on chargers are inside a locked garage, inside that fully fenced and locked yard. If you can get the car out, you can have it, as I'll be having one hell of a laugh at your expense.
    • Looks like they changed the wording in the manual for the new model. I have a different model. Mine is CC1206. Not CC1206-XLI. Mine doesn't support lithium at all. I can't find the manual for my model online and they don't list the model on the Century website anymore either. In my manual it says what I quoted and that they recommend to not leave it on 🤷‍♂️ Sounds like you'd be fine with this one now.
    • Thanks for actually answering every single point! I noticed the date only after posting. And yes, looks like things have changed a little bit since then. FWIW, looks like Government Gazette No 253 has the current emissions test procedure. Sounds pretty reasonable altogether. One thing I learned from this is that it's possible to check whether a catalyst does any work by measuring the temperature. Catalyst outlet temp is at least 40°C higher than inlet temps if there is a reaction happening. I'd be curious to check this on mine but don't have a thermometer. Because purely going by smell it can't be doing much. Personally I'd be okay to pay for the test as long as it's within reason. My main concern would be to lose my rego because it definitely wouldn't pass the test in its current state. I'll see if I can do a bit more digging and see what's involved in doing this nowadays.   To be fair I don't think it's stopping many people from doing the modifications anyway. It just puts a barrier up to doing things right
