Hi,

I need some info on cams for an rb26. I was making 307rwkw through a stock engine with stock cams and adj cam gears. My engine is soon being rebuilt and can't decide on cams. i'm running gt-ss turbos, pfc, adj cam gears, car is mainly used for hill climbs/twisties and occasional track days. I know of the poncams, but maybe something a little more aggressive like 264°, 10mm lift? Has anyone used this sort of cam? looking for more in the midrange and a little more top end.

Cheers,

Al

I was under the impression with rb's, the trend was to go bigger in the exhaust, as that is the more restrictive side. How much more power are you looking at making, as at the level you are running, the cams aren't really a restriction. I certainly wouldnt go bigger than 256in/264ex combo for your usage, i probably wouldnt even go that big. Poncams seem to be a great mild setup whic suit 300-350rwkw

If you add the cams you find you can grab the same power for less boost/rpm/aggression on tune. Thats good for a std old engine.

Plenty of guys including myself have run the Tomei 260's in/ex (type B) with excellent results. I am looking at the 260/256 (type A) this time round as the lower part of the power curve should be a little better at the expense of the upper part but, like you I will cap the power for the stock engine regardless. I've got some GT-SS units ready to go on.
