Ill be driving down to visit family in Melbourne some time over the next 3 months. My preference is sometime in September.

Thought it might be a good chance to catch a day at Winton, Calder Park, Phillip Island etc etc.

Anything coming up???? If so what date as id like to ensure my visit coincides.

So interested parties in a Winton Track Day on Friday 12th Spetember (pending confirmation Or other venue of similar date)

Im happy to organise if we can get some numbers together.

Which is closer to the city, Calder or Winton?

Calder has open practice days on Wednesdays, @$165 pre vehicle &

Winton has open practice days on Friday 12th September and Friday 26th September, i have sent them an email concerning $$$

So who would be interested?

yer, but that said, i think if you can get the numbers together and put up some good $ it will be viable..

kevwrx is able to organise a training/track day but it depends what exactly you wanted to do. I think some training could be useful for some of us (me definitely included  )

I'd be up for it, assuming my car is all back and running nicely by then.. Should all be fine, but you never know.

Im checking Winton that road registered cars are able to attend their open days, just like at Wakefield in NSW.

This way the day will be run using their insurance, medics & rescue vehicles and the day runs irrespective of 1 or 20 Skylines attending.

As for driver training im sure there are some experienced Vic guys about that can help the 1st timers punt their cars around.

As long as you drive within your cars, and your own limits you will be fine. Plus Winton looks like a nice safe twisty little circuit

Im waiting to hear from Calder Park concerning Wednesday 10 September

As far as i can tell your cars only need to be roadworthy, and driver hold a current drivers licence. Add to that a tank full of gas and $165 and we are cooking.

Helmet, Driving suit (available for hire) and Drivers License. Im hoping cotton pants and long sleeve shirts will suffice, will post when i get word.

pfft, we aint poor in mel!!

whats a few $100 to have a good time.

Put me down, if i am in the state then ofcourse!!

Roy, I'm pretty sure that Calder was re-registered last month when it went broke. Im not sure what theyre running there now, but they wont have CAMS public liability cover so I doubt they'll be open for anything.

Good luck getting some of those vics into Team Trackday :D

... and heres Tony Cochraine sending races OS, so Bob Jane tiff with the powers to be finally got the better of him.

Might explain why i havent had a response to my emails?

Im determined to get on a Vic track, i might go back to emailing both Winton and Calder.

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
