Im curious about this aswell. A dickhead i know drives a GTST on his P's, thinks he is so tuff driving a turbo car on his P's

What happens if they catch you? Fine and a warning or something? Say he pissed me off and some how cops found out about this.......would much happen to him? :)

If he's wearing P plates, the cops will pull him over to check his license. Once they work it out, given the negative hoon stigma in the media and law enforcement, they'll ream him.

On another note he's driving a car he's not licensed to operated.

In case of an accident, he's got no insurance (including CTP). So if he hits someone and puts them in hospital, he may as well declare bankruptcy.

Risking financial ruin, and leaving a black mark on your record for the rest of your life, sounds pretty f*cking stupid to me.

i am on my ps and drive a turbo, but then again i was excepmt from the law so i have to reason to be worried.

plus there are exceptions other then getting your license before the law.

1. if you owned the turbo car before june1st 2007 and have proof you will be allowed to drive it.

2. if you have a medical condition that requires you drive a specific vehicle. EG. a turbo skyline.

3. the car was passed down in the family and it is just to much of a hassle to sell and buy another.

if none of these apply you risk having your car inpounded for 48 hours. but the law is a dodgy one to be honest, most cops dont even know the law themselves

but these are queensland laws.

Lol.

"Yes officer i do realise i can't drive a turbo car on my P's, however i suffer from a medical condition where my body needs to feal a car on boost, otherwise i have a high risk of going into cardiac arrest."

Those two words that scathing said are the real killers.

"Financial ruin"

The fine and the points will pail into comparison if he has an accident with something expensive or hits a pedestrian.

The insurance company will rip him a new arse.

Yea you can get raped.. But driving a turbo skyline on your P's is just asking for trouble.. There's plenty of other turbo cars out there you can drive which will attract less attention.. As long as you're sensible and don't drive at stupid hours etc you'll be fine.

I hate the people who say THE LAW IS THE LAW YOU ARE BREAKING IT!!!

Some laws are a little grey.. Like this no turbo one, it was just a bandaid on a broken leg.. There have been more fatalities for P platers since these laws came in.. The government just caved in to the media..

If Person X is driving his daddy's BMW something something 2007 model pushing out 190kw's+

And Perxon Y is driving some new Holden VE making 200kw's+ but still P plate legal..

Why is it person N driving a rock stock turbo skyline, silvia, subaru or what ever making far less power than these newer cars P platers can still drive is in the wrong? IMO Person N is far more concerned about the well being of his car than person X or Y is, because he/she appreciates cars and their worth (In most cases)

The best way to fix the problem is driver training.. Getting people in the car, spinning them out in the wet, getting the rear end loose, scaring them a little, but doing it in a closed environment so they can see how quickly things can go wrong..

But the government can't be assed spending money on something like that, so instead we have our revenue raising police heading down to all sorts of places e.g Harry's defecting a bunch of guys who want to get a god dam hot dog. Why not have the 'Highway' Patrol cops actually put their road knowledge to some use and try to pass it on to the younger generation instead of nailing every tom dick and harry for a f**king pod filter?!

Not that I'm agreeing or disagreeing with the law, but boost can be killer, from what I've been told anyway. At least with a dirty great thumping V8 you know what your car will do.

my mate is driving a xr6 turbo atm and hes still on he's p's. I asked him whats the go with he's insurance and he has full comprehensive on the car and he's insurance company didn't even ask him whether or not he's allowed to drive turbo'd cars.

Its not just that. The insurance company will go after him in court, wins, and gets awarded a bucketload of cash this guy has got no chance of paying off. So he declares bankruptcy, to get out paying the entire debt.

Once that's on your record, try getting a business or home loan (especially now that no bank in their right mind would do a subprime home loan), or any loan for that matter.

Either you're paying off hundreds of thousands of dollars, or you're never getting a loan again.

Some jobs, especially in the financial sector, will also ask you if you've ever declared bankruptcy....and if they're asking, an affirmative response won't go down well.

Then there's the issue of being convicted of a crime for injuring someone. If you're driving unlicensed, the DPP or Police are more likely to go after you and have you charged to "make an example of you". Chances are you'll end up on the front page of the newspaper, given our current climate, which means people will know.

Get convicted of a criminal offense, and there's something else you need to declare when applying for a job, loan, or a visa to visit another country.

The insurance company are smart. They'll just take your yearly payment, but when you make a claim (for running someone down for example), they'll just reject you because you're driving a car illegally.

When the cops pull up to your mate, makesure he gives it a good hard rev so you can hear it spool its nuts off, rip a skid from the lights, get some flutter and drifting happening and give them the finger....

its turbo bro the cops wont be able to catch him
