Yeah kgf = kilograms of force.

1 kgf = 10Newtons.

It is the plate pre-load.

I set my Nismo diff to the middle setting & there are more clunks than a clunk convention - although clunkage is dependent on the clutch plate size, number and to a lesser degree the diff ramp angle.

lol, the ol sneaky edit while I was posting trick! not sure if they are right but they should be if you found it in one of my other posts. the difference i believe is the preload.

haha sorry mate. I found the pt# for the R200 in the Nismo online catalogue. I don't want the thing clunking around sharp corners as it's still used on the street more than the track, so i'll go for the 8kgf version.

Cheers Guys

Hey guys, just an update on my Nismo GT Pro 1.5way...

been in the car a few weeks now and I just changed the oil over to Redline 80-140W Gear oil... has reaaaally smoothed the diff up. Before it used to really clunk and bang and feel like the arse end of the car was going to fall out.. I was going to start dosing the diff with separate friction modifier just to see but instead changed the oil out altogether. Unfortunately I can't say what was in there to begin with - the guy who fitted and setup my diff did not use the Nismo oil it came with and put in 'what he recommended'. But the point is that the choice of oil can and does affect how 'streetable' the diff is. Mine now still skips the outside tyre on the pavement on tight turns, but without all the other crash/bang/fkin-thump from the back.. I reckon if I put a little friction modifier in there now, I could further smooth it up - but as mine is more for track than street - I'm happy where it is. Just enough to show me its still locking, and smooth enough not to piss me off on the street.

So just a heads up. If you do get a harsh diff - try oil or friction modifier to smooth it up a bit - it does help.

What do you guys think about the Carbonetic/ATS (same company) Carbon LSD? They are really popular with the 350z(Fairlady Z) and now starting to catch on with the Supras and Silvias. Anyone test one on any year GTR?

    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
