guys..!

i have a manual boost controller and a GFB BOV...

and i do NOT know how to fit them, was wondering if anybody out there would want to do it for me in exchange for a couple of brewies or $$$ and if nobody can do that or can be bothered to do it tell me how much it will cost at a workshop?

also, my GT-T has a standard boost gauge, would i have to get one that runs over 1 bar to use the boost controller more efficiently and are there any problems if i use the standard one?

(reason i ask this i think stock i'm running 7psi but i wish to run at around 12psi...)

the BOV apparently has to get welded on to my engine too, it's just the trumpet thing and i don't have an aftermarket cooler SO...

any suggestions out there? for those that don't know me i'm not the most literate person mechanially

all advice will be genuinely appreciated, thank you

Andrew :D

hey mate,

I wouldn't go running your car at 12 psi without a bigger intercooler otherwise you could get engine knock which is bad also would suggest getting an aftermarket boost guage as that way you can monitor the boost better than the stock one. Running the car at about 10 psi should be fine and not cause any damage to the engine.

The bov should just bolt up where the stock one goes but not knowing too much about rb25s i wouldn't be able to tell you.

If wou need a hand with anything send me a pm and i can help you out

:D

Matt

just a precaution but if you wind up your boost you should get it on a dyno to check air/fuel ratios. so it is better to get a workshop to do the lot. i use IN TUNE PERFORMANCE. they are in the workshops list below. he charges 88/hr and about 80 bux for a check on the dyno

hey guys, thanks for the kind advice...

guy, everything's always easy isn't it? haha so how about that suspension?

i don't think i can live without my suspension man!

umm... matty, i'll send you a pm... i can't afford $88 an hour right now especially for a job like this so i'm sure me and you can work something out...

if anybody else out there has any nice words they'd like to say you're more than welcome to, please do so...

Andrew :D

Suggestion: Get an adaptor if you want to install the bov or use silicone pipe! Backyard welding doesnt look the best and you dont want your r34 to look like sh*t under the hood do you? Be wise and get it done properly the first time!!! Save if you have to!

what do you need done to your suspensions?

if your changing to coilovers or something like that it is really easy job, just need a socket set, a jack and about 1hr of your time (maybe less, maybe more)

but remember if you change any suspension parts you will need a wheel alignment, i changed to a different set of coilovers and ended up with some massive toe out

lol guy is the one that is after suspension...

i have mine in yet i have no f*cking clue what type os setup it is *shakes head* god i'm useless...

alright wel i'm set about getting the BOV and MBC in, i'm also thinking (and hope all you guys out there can help me with this one)...

my car is due for it's major service (100,000km's) so should i save up some $$$ and get the FMIC and get all 3 (FMIC, BOV and MBC) all in at once then tune it at the same time with my major service and has ANYONE got ANY idea as to how much this will cost and how much longer i can drive my car until i SERIOUSLY need to change the stuff for the major service...?!?!

danny at imports101 changed a lot of my stuff around before he sent the car to the pits, only things he said i needed to change was the timing belt and i think that's it, all the filters and coolers and fluids and everything were already done i think around 8,000km's ago...

never mind, any idea how much my mechanical desires will set me back?

rough estimate is okay, will go to danny i think for the major service and fitting of all that stuff

cheers,

Andrew

if someone has a reasonable offer then yeah i'm selling the car...

BUT i'll be doing things slowly if nobody buys yet ie. FMIC, BOV, MBC and also probably different kit + paint and some interior goodies etc.

you guys know how it is, for now though i've had some offers that aren't tempting enough so i might play with the car until i see a cash offer

i'll be ringing a few workshops tomorrow eh

:D

hey also andrew if you wanted to do it yourself or not have to pay a garage to do it my housemate and i would do it for a small fee (only because timing belts are time consuming to change) we live just around the corner of where you saw us the other day. Send me a PM if your interested

    • Yeah, so widen your search to any Nissan speedo first, then go wider if needed. I will say though, that there is a better than even chance that what I said first will likely come into play. They quite possibly won't come apart without damage. I tried to disassemble a stepper gauge that I wanted to repair. There was no way that needle was coming off the spindle, and I could not see how the spindle would come out of the mechanism behind. Assembled once, never to be disassembled, was my conclusion. Could be the same on the R34 cluster. Failing that - take the cluster to a workshop that specialises in automotive instrument work. There's usually at least one in every Australian city. They'll either be able to do it for you for small cost, or tell you it can't be done. It might be that "it can't be done" unless you follow some arcane procedure, including trickiness to glue it back together or something, that only experienced techs know.
    • Well, given that I, an engineer, almost never bring out the torque wrench to tighten up chassis bolts, despite fully knowing the theory, and instead rely on feel, which I happen to know is exactly how the majority of mechanics do things, should tell you the level of actual peril that exists from not achieving exactly 88 Nm of torque. How about if I just say then that 88Nm is at the lower end of the correct wheel nut torque range? Everyone knows how to tighten a wheel nut, right? And almost no-one ever brings out the torque wrench for that task
    • Don't be ridiculous. "2-3 ugga duggas or one Oof. You have to use Oof on tie rods because you can't get an ugga dugga on there." Is not helping the guy at all.
    • I have done a lot of research before posting here and on gtruk forum. couldn't find anything. I have my gauges all part except the needle itself. the needle has a extremely small hole in the center, but the shaft going to the needle is extremely small and appears to have nothing to index it either. doesn't seem strong enough to simple pry or pull without damaging something. Already tried the old spoon trick on a extra triple meter I have from a gtt, but no luck. the center cap comes off easily but the hole in the meter face plate aren't big enough to get over the needle itself. figured this would be my best place to find someone who might have actually removed theirs. wonder if there is some type of small pin press tool to push the pin in while pulling the needle base off.
    • Ok...its taking me long enough to finally do this.  Feck financial security...heart disease will get me soon enough anyway So welcome to the garage..."Clem" Belsil80 has been running a 370Z in Super TT series. So after entering with him in last years Winton 300 i figured I  need my own car. Seems SAU Vic race cars need to be yellow....{tick} Reckon with enough motor i will be able to make up for the lack of talent and stay ahead of the 370Z... but the LS powered S13 and E36s are a ways up the road Aim is to have a car that doesnt stop or turn but has a bit of shed built motor with jam...maybe some cream  First step is getting this ex drift car log booked I am keeping faithful silver car. As the road-club car gets upgrades the race car wil get the sloppy seconds
