The car has developed a chopping sound comming from the block. It first happened a week after an intensive advance driver training day in early feb where the car was breaking hard and spining around, and two times since then. In all 3 times the car was taken for a long drive on 35+deg days. If the car is left to sit and cool down for 20min it goes away.

Seems to be temp related? Could it be related to the training day where the car was thrown around and the block was starved of oil for a sec? Oil level is fine

It sure doesn't sound healthy. Anyone have any ideas what it could be?

cheers

it sounds a bit dieselish eh.. like loud tappets..

my guess is either the lifter needs to be re-adjusted, or the VCT pulley is on its way out..
