I personally don't have one, but then i ain't running a standard fuel setup (surge tank)

But then i didn't have it before i had the surge tank come to think of it, cant say i had any issues with the car when it came over related to that

Much of a muchness part perhaps?

it dampens pulsing in the fuel lines caused by injectors opening and closing, allowing fuel to return back to tank as peacefully as possible. thats the theory anyway

It also stops syphoning of the fuel from the fuel rail back to the tank. If you don't have one you can get a slight hesitation on starting if the car has been sitting for a long time. While the fuel pumps back up to the rail, so it's only a second or 2. Most people don't even notice it.

Cheers

Gary

So the dampener acts like a one way valve too?... I thought there was both a one way, and a dampener.

I know ppls who didn't want to pay for a expensive high flowing one way; Letting the pumps prime normally before hitting the starter prevents any delay.

thread revival!

who has ditched the fuel damper/OEM check valve and replaced it with an aftermarket check valve?

I've ordered the ones below which require at least 0.8bar of fuel pressure before flow initiates which is perfect to stop fuel draining back into the tank... hopefully this works when connected down stream (same direction as fuel).

I've removed the OEM one to fit my flex sensor in that spot, however I'm finding my rail is draining so it's a little harder to start the car without priming it for at least 1~2seconds .. also broscience says I shouldn't have fuel lines without fuel in them for long periods of time (car rarely gets driven).

Are you sure it's draining not just evaporating in the heat Johnny?

I run two one way valves after the twin VQ rails to separate my twin pump setup. Not running a dampener at all but my fuel pressure gauge doesn't bounce around much.

I think it's draining man, because prior to me installing the flex sensor I didn't have this issue.

Didn't know where else to elegantly install the flex sensor. Thought about the back near the fuel tank but too much stuffing about.
