As topic says,

just wondering if anybody knows any workshops that have had experience with the Wolf 3D?

Have found one at the right price, but before purchasing, as everybody always recommends find an ecu that your tuner prefers, figured i would see if there are any tuners locally, and roughly how much they would charge to install it for a rb25det.

Also, is the wolf even a good option or should I save a bit more extra cash and get the power fc? spent the last hour or so searching the web for reviews and tips, but am still none the wiser really.

Cheers

Can't help with Wolf tuners, but I had exactly the same choice a few years back and ended up going with the PFC ($800 at the time lol)

I don't recall specifics but I remember thinking that the Wolf was a flat-out ECU, and didn't have some of the niceties that you'd want in a street car. I think it didn't have closed loop for starters, and the idle control wasn't great and didn't have aircon idle-up or something??? And I think the tuning is pretty coarse on it, 8 or so rpm/load points? As I said I haven't checked them in ages so I may be wrong or things may have improved with them since then, but it's worth looking into for yourself anyway.

been searching the forced induction section, and googling it, but so far not much. was doing it on dial up though, due to work only having dial up at my office, so was a slow process.

was hoping to find a tuner that has had experience with them, especially v4, so could talk to him myself, and see if the wolf and power fc were significantly different for my goals. attempting to build my r32 into a street registered circuit car. it's currently the daily, till my other car arrives in october/november.

at the moment the price difference between the two is around $300-400 for what I am able to find, in favour of the wolf. due to spending a bit on the car already, $300-400 at the moment is a significant difference, but just wondering whether it is significant enough, especially if the power fc is leagues ahead. i have seen cars with high numbers with wolf ecu's, but i still do want good idle, some fuel economy etc etc, and am wondering whether the wolf can deliver.

jeeze, they have come a long way since then. the v4s and v4 plus do have closed loop, a/c idle correction and idle control. 16 load points at 125rpm increments up to 16000rpm. so they are a pritty good unit. i've just wired one into a mates car and am in the process of setting it up.

PWND, we have been given the number of a guy that will finish the tune if its running/idling and he is supposed to be good at wolfs. if you want a can dig that number up for you. but like i said, he will only touch it if it is already running. let me know.

mate, if you do find it, the number would be great.

it's a start, as at the moment I don't have any numbers for QLD.

Not very keen to just ring up shops and ask, as am a bit worried that they might say that they can install and tune it even though they have had no experience. That's why I was hoping to talk to somebody who has had experience with them

ok, i'll pm you later.

lol

the wolf 3d v4 straight out destroyed the powerfc in my experience

spark cut rev limiter, map sensor, mine ran ls1 coilpacks.

powerfc is basicly a tunable stock ecu, theres a lot of things it cannot do that the wolf can. however unfortunatly finding someone who wants to tune it is a bit more difficult. that said there isnt anything wrong with their ability.

and as mentioned they will run your aircon ect fine.

very true. did you know the power fc actually uses a factory nissan board in it.

give pete from rpm performance a call on 54993932. he shouldn't have a problem tuning the v4.

he tuned my v500 and did a great job. i actually upgraded from a PFC to the wolf and would never look back.

Last person I spoke to was pi55ed that they were totally unhelpful with the cooling failures. He had to put a bag of ice on his to drive anywhere, and they sent a new one that was the same and couldn't be bothered after that. Never been a fan of Wolf products and I guess it shows. Get a PFC or get a Motec if you need to step up from that.

But if you want a reasonably priced tuner try Mick at Signature Performance in Ipswich. Has been looking after club members extremely well, and would turn his hand to any product with common sense and expertise without breaking your bank.

^^hmmm very intresting. that was the v4 yeah? was it mounted in the kickpanel like stock? might be worth finding out if it is a common issue with the v4. i haven't had any problem the the v500 though.

strange that they didn't want to know about it. when i have dealt with wolf they have been more than helpfull. maybe just different person within the company or something
