Hey guys

Just thought i post up, if people were interested in getting a decent amount SAU members to come out willowbank raceway and take there car down the strip (or just watch )

The suggestion was put forward by a fellow SAU member and i thought also it would be a good idea.

Laterly i have gone out to test and tune to watch and have been kinda bored with the lack of skylines, or interesting cars.

As i have seen the amount of Skylines increasing around the area, it would be good to see a heap of skylines head out and have fun.

I thought to give people some notice and put the date of the test and tune night for the 30th of April.

For details of whats required to take your car down the strip just click on the link http://www.willowbank-raceway.com.au/

It would be good to see a fair amount of skylines head out, and show other members of what you have/done.

Thanks

theres a good chance ill be able to go. it'll be my first run on the new engine. Is anyone from the southside meeting up to go down? Otherwise there's no difference between going down on yr date or any other test n tune

probably wont be much difference.

Only the fact that, hopefully there will be a few skylines on the 30th, and usually hardly any on any other date, which sucks paying 18 bucks to watch average cars go down.

Even the point of the events are for " testing" but ya know come on, bring out some interesting stuff.

It was more to see a few skylines at willowbank on the same night. But if anyone wanted to organise a cruise there, go for it.

But im only like 10 mins away from there. So, pointless for me really.

It could even turn out to be a cruise after it to Mt Cootha or somewhere of interest on a Wednesday, not sure if anyone would be interested in that but ya know could be suggested if theres a next time that something like this is organised

C'mon Miss niz, come for a run in the 34. I'ts heaps of fun, my car is only doing 14's so not that great. Still i loved it.

All the guys thinking of coming with huge power in their cars, COME ON DOWN. I would love to see really fast Skylines having a go. Would be great entertainment. Be nice to outnumber the Xr6 turbo's and SS commo's.

Hmm i might come out and give my 34 a go, just got turbo back zorst fitted, new ecu and tune going in wednesday :) so keen to see how she goes.

anyone organsing a north side meet up? for a mass skyline cruise down?

By the looks of it, probably is a good idea if we had two people to organise a northside cruise down and southside, if you guys were interested doing that. Then possibly meeting up at an area before where we can all cruise into willowbank together.

Off the top of my head, i am unaware of a suitable location to meet. I was thinking of Redbank Plaza Shopping Centre, but then we do have a couple of people that live closer to Willowbank then that, and would be travelling backwards. Then again depends on how many turn up and would attend the little cruise down.

But by the look of it theres a decent group of people coming along, and a few that are producing good numbers and new comers, so should be an interesting night.

Awesome!!

Be good to meet you too. Hope we get a few more.

Yeah no worries, im penciling it in now...

I just want to open the bike up, see how fast i can cross the 1/4 in (trap speed i mean)...

Im nervous of a gust of wind at 200 tho, I think it will be a true "test and tune" for me, test how confident I am after clicking into 3nd gear at 15,000rpm :)

whats in ur new engine... i mite head down... something diff on a wed nite... im on the sth side... where abouts r u?

fully built 25/30. Getting its final tune done on Monday. Expecting 500rwhp since i got over 400 in a run in tune but i dont think the time will be that good. Its not setup for drag racing but it'll still be fun anyway. Im at Mount Cotton

    • What HVAC actuator is under the steering wheel? Do you mean on the RHS of the centre console, immediately to the left of your shin? If so, then yes, it is probably that one, because that is the mode door actuator, and from what I know, it's still a pain in the arse to replace. I don't know about whole dash out, but you certainly have to rip into the centre console section. I don't know if it's covered in the workshop manual, as I haven't spent much time looking at those parts of it. (and by "the workshop manual, I mean the R32 GTR one, which is the most comprehensive one we have, and it should be similar enough between that and later cars to serve as a guide).
    • ...oops. forgot the TCU end...
    • No I got mine from a friend that had fabricated one … but I had to fit it to my setup which was a hks turbo setup. His was a Garrett -7. So one of my turbos was not a flange for one side … then I had a leak in the welds I had to find a weld shut … in the end the setup was decent priced but I spent a lot to get it fitted. A couple companies I checked would make it but you’re talking 7-9k aud with titanium. No joke mine was 6-7k even second hand after I had to fit it in Hong Kong … labour is expensive here.
    • I'd just like to restate that I don't think anyone here is actually hating I recently sold a car part to a guy who was building a forged auto R34, with MV stall and aiming at ~450kw. I told him that I'm him, from the future and to stop after it explodes once. I told him I knew he won't listen the first time, and that's fine. But if my predictions do come true - Change direction faster than I did. I also said it's probably no coincidence that the dyno plot of a reliable turbo engine starts to look a lot like a N/A motor. :p
    • Got just the wing painted and fitted up to the existing boot. Big visual change and about time after having a GTR wing sitting in the shed since 2018 Headed up to Mallala with a quick obligatory stop in at Boliver OTR Oil control mods seems to have worked. I checked the catch can after session 1 and there was a dribble of water/e85 with barely any oil in it. After session 2 and 3 there was almost nothing and I stopped checking after that. so either great success or catastrophic failure/block of the external breather The GTR wing made a noticeable difference in the 160-185km/h sweepers. It was a very hot day for the cars at over 33C but the previously done cooling upgrade/ducting/water sprayers meant I never saw over 60C intake, 105C water and 100C oil and temps would drop back down very quickly once I shut it down. AD09's are a decent tyre but certainly and expectedly a step down when compared the the CR-S/AR-1 I have had on the car for years of track days. The handling characteristics of my car which I often describe using the Tony Hawks Pro Skater balance mechanic where either side of the center is understeer/oversteer was much more pronounced with no "green/safe" zone in the middle. However, imo it steers well/easily during oversteer largely thanks to the custom ACOSTAL front end. Enjoy a loose lap POV with my mate giggling away as a passenger.   Group photo for Peer Pressure Racing made it back home and gave it a wash Overall a great success compared to my previous two track days where i cooked the Starlets motor and blew up the new diff in the R32
