In case anyone is still interested, it is now over 12 months since we imported our M35 Stagea. $35 grand tied up in a car that we are yet to drive. Car is now probably worth mid twenties and we have had no use out of it whatsoever and it appears we never will. I really can't say enough about the wonderful assistance we have received from the import broker. Yes people, I am only kidding about the last part. The silence from the import broker has been deafening. Not even an offer to refund the brokerage fee as a result of his ineptitude. In 12 months I have seen the car once and my wife has not seen it at all. Roll on the outcome of Autech Axis's court case.

cheers

I remember getting a Pm off you ages ago about this car....Still nothing...! Dept of fair trading maybe ? I think you deserve a refund or something to compensate you...this is just ridiculous....I would be wanting blood by now

It is Bull Shit as far as I am concerned and it makes me hate "Brokers" more then car dealers when I here story's like that, we got a new one in WA and they are advertising cars that can be imported but not stating which scheme including S14, Series 6 & 7 RX7's, another come in spinner backyard importer till something goes wrong.

Well it isn't cheap for Liability Insurance but it is a necessity these days, my chances of needing it are as slim as you can get but I am not willing to take a risk because if I gave bad advice and I couldn't afford to cover it well my insurance can Link to site.

Professional Indemnity,

Professional indemnity insurance protects you from legal action taken for losses incurred as a result of your advice. It provides indemnity cover if your client suffers a loss - either material, financial or physical - directly attributed to negligent acts.

Some people would of paid who ever you used a visit and not to deliver chocolates as a thank you, look how pissed I got about a mates sons turbo been stolen from the workshop, I don't know what I would do in your situation.

I reckon you'd need to start legal action dude.

If they got away with it this long, then they'll dismiss it and hope you'll go away.

:)

Thanks all for your kind thoughts and ongoing support. Rest assured, we have no intention of going away and as they say "we will have our day". I only await the outcome of Autech Axis's court case with his broker and should it be anywhere near favourable we will commence proceedings also. We are confident of a very favourable outcome in his case. Stay tuned

cheers and thanks all

Has their been more than one person caught out by this broker (importing an M35 that cant be complied)? I am not sure i am reading correctly but surely the broker would learn after the first mistake?

Two different brokers involved. Autech's issue is a little different to mine. It is well documented in here somewhere.

Just another update for all following this thread.

Unfortunately I am unable to comitt my self to an exact date of completion in relation to successful testing to ADR79/00. As I have previously said, there are to many variables to be able to give an exact time frame. I also need to inform you that the test facility which has been conducting the emissions test (VIPAC ENGINEERS) are currently in the process of establishing their new facility at Port Melbourne and are unable to continue testing until the facility is comissioned. The indication I have received from the test facility is approximately the beginning of April before they can recommence testing for any of their clients. I have contacted Orbital in Perth and they have informed me that they can not conduct any additional work due to their current work load. I have contacted Ford Motor Company to see if they can assist us in testing vehicles however they have not yet got back to me on the issue.

This leaves us in an unfortunate position. I can appreciate your frustration however as you can see the situation is out of my control.

Once again I would like to thank the caring import broker who has cut and run like a mongrel dog.

Where to now guys?

You posted this up on your "Other" thread on 1st Feb....

while I understand you situation and Frustration, making up a new thread wasn't really necessary. Except that you now get lots of sympathy from everyone that hasn't seen the full story.

As far as I can see your complier is doing all that they can. So to answer your question of "Where to now".... wait some more, if you want your car complied. That is all that you can do. It isn't in their hands.

Don't think that I don't care Murray BTW. I have phoned your complier twice with suggestions about getting your car to meet ADR79/00. So even though you might think that no one cares, we all do.

Fire up the original thread though so that you get both sides..... not just yours.

Yes mate you're so right. I have met with the guys who are trying their hardest to get the car to meet the ADR's. My beef is not with them and never has been. My beef is with the person who gave me the incorrect info at the beginning. I most sincerely thank all who have offered all kinds of support and I am aware of others who are working behind the scenes to try and get a resolution to this issue but I will not allow others to go unaware of the dealings of some allegedly respectable operators and their treatment of clients. It is my wish that nobody else should have to go through what I and my wife have gone through over the last twelve months.

Thank again to all.

I also know of it happening to other vehicles with emissions and build dates then cars having to go through the Auctions in Japan after being told by the so called experts in Australia to bid on the car.

Give the guy a break - Murray is obviously pissed off at the broker and rightly so! There is only one side to the story - broker allowed and assisted in importing a car that is not able to be complied. Some more homework would have been good but you pay the broker to do this shit for you and expect them to get it right. Not having a go at you personally Appealling but i dont think starting a new thread is so bad (too many pages slows everyone down)

I for one am happy that this thread was started. i am about to import an M35 and like to see what is going on.

I look forward to further updates - in this thread or a new one.

  • 3 months later...

sell it too nz and sue for the difference? Or make them buy it back and do if themselves? They already lost my buisness so the more the word spreads the better. They also f**ked around a friend of mine.

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
