Importing A Car?

I am looking at importing an R32 from Japan and I have no idea of the procedure/s involved in such a task. What do I need to look out for other than the cost of the car itself and the shipping costs? What is compliance and how much is it? I appreciate any help anybody can give me I understand I am a complete Noob and apoligize for my ignorance.

Hey 32 love.

Do a few searches in the forum as there is a few post covering this. Basically don't do it yourself, as there is ALOT of running around to do. I personally imported my 32 myself and yeah bit of headaches and there are no guarantees or waranty either. Helps if u have heaps of free time. Probably better picking one up from a importing dealer around your area. Best of luck mate.

Mate i would love nothing more than to buy from a dealer its just the one i want (non turbo) is so bloody hard to find!!!! and from the e-mails i've been getting from these distributors it (appears) to be alot cheaper. Thats why i'm interested in this other stuff e.g. compliancing, tax etc. Thanks for sharing your knowledge though

which group are u going through 2 import mate? Is it an auctioner? wat year is it?

Search the forums for a non turbo pal, by the time you import one will cost same as a good turbo here....

Yeah no longer importing, was going to import through j-spec, as they seem really helpful to me. Just going to look local now for an n/a 32 or 33, and if i can't find one might have to settle for an s13. Thanks everyone

Non turbo 33's and 34's are pretty cheap these days depending on your budget mate...
