Pod filters - How loud should they be? RedLineGTR, need your help

G'day All,

I recently bought a Trust pod filter actually from RedLineGTR and could not be happier. The pod fitted perfectly and was a breeze to install.

I only have one concern, how loud should the suction noise be. Now I know, the main reason why I bought this, was for the sound, but from the interior, boy, does it sound loud!!

I guess I'm just kinda concerned that maybe I havent installed it right and perhaps the air is getting sucked in from somewhere else..........that could be bad. But fromwhat I could see, all the clamps, screws are bolted on tight, so yeah can somebody possibly describe how loud it should be?

I guess if I had to describe it, it sounds like a bov that is really obvious in the low end range. So much taht I cant even hear the turbo spooling up. In the upper end it's now so obvious.

I have the hks pod and mine is hella loud sounds like a rocket launching.people can still here it over the exhaust.i expect trust would be the same.you got some nice induction now

I fitted a K&N filter and its loud too.

I was getting a bit concerned about it ... but every girl who ever gets in the car asks "whats that noise? is that the turbo? I love that noise!!!"

So im gonna leave it as is

it depends on the turbo i think.

My t04e is pretty quiet.

But then maybe the exhaust is too loud, but even so it's not like the stock turbo's sounds

mine WAS very frk loud but i am temporarily trying the airbox with a new filter - back to the pod again in a couple of weeks.

Most POD's are loud in skylines I think, except Ash's

I've got a K&N M's pod on my 32, and I wouldn't have it any other way. It sounds best when you're cruising through a tunnel :P

But yeah, it does sound mad, I don't care if they do say I lose performance! hehe. It just sounds so agressive, I'm getting dirty looks whereever I go. And on the freeway today.........priceless.

Oh there is one concern though, rumour has it, that can actually damage or create more wear to the engine, since the foam filter does not filter as well, compared to say a paper filter. I'm sure this has been discussed to death, but I could not find anything using a search. May I ask, is there any substance to these rumours???

hey bro....yah i was suprised when i first installed it too..nice sounds...and a nice notice in power..well on mine at least. I think the hks ones are even louder...less restriction. But ya enjoy. Any questions just pm me.

The Trust ones have a triple filter foam runs in diff directions, less stuff gets in, get a CAI build from the engine keeps abit of dust and shit out.
