GoldZilla
only a social retard wouldnt know i was kidding around mate. i put the 'lol' there for a reason - i was lol'ing.anyways, its not about me vs. sau, give this guy some freaking advice. OK, it's all good. Back on topic, just about everything that I would advise has already been said: Keep an eye on the Events section of SAU and any other forums you might be signed up to, there are quite a few track days around, both out on the track on your own, or with instructors. If you want even more options, get yourself a CAMS or AASA licence (CAMS requires you be a financial member of a car club such as SAU, but it is accepted in a lot more places) Kudos to you for doing the right thing and keeping your racing OFF the streets! As Nathaniel said, if you can convince others to do the same, then we can all rest a little bit easier and it might help to change people's attitudes towards all of us enthusiasts, no matter what we drive. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Mazda3 Neo - I drive one fairly often, and it's an awesome little car! Just make sure you get some grippy tyres on it. Abo Bob
What's funny for one person is not always funny for everyone else. Anyway, I actually agree with Joe partially. I suggest you go down to Wakefield to one of their open days. Check here for upcoming days. $50 for the licence, $90 I think for the day on the track, you can hire a helmet there or borrow one off a mate. Drive around and report back to us on the fun you had. Now if you get into it this may not be the best value long term but it's one of the cheapest ways to start. The alternative as suggested by a number of people here is joining a club, this one or another, and going to their events. For this you will get a bunch of nice people to hang out with and ask advice from. There are plenty of little tips that people can tell you from their own experiences that can make it more fun for you. The Texikhana we have coming up is another good event. Last year a Toyota Starlet came 2nd. It's basically a road trip/weekend away and plenty of fun.
