If you run the appropriate fuel all the time, then there may(should) be power to be gained by advancing. However if it pings(for one of many reasons, which you may not hear), then the ecu will go into its low octane map, richening the mixtures and retarding the timing. There is no engine light, and it will stay in this mode until the ecu is reset i believe, there is "power loss and worse fuel economy" especially if you then retard the timing to the original cas position, then you have even more retarded timing and richer mixtures.

ok have been having a few problems, my c.a.s has problems with the tps switch unpluged if i set the timming say 15 degreees btdc then turn the car off and back on still with tps unpluged it will say timing is around 30degrees btdc and rev alot higher its wierd its as if the car flicking inbetween modes when i turn it on and off but will only do this with t.p.s unpluged and yes i did reset ecu before checking the timing because i had played with it does anyone no what happening

at to you guys, if you have a series 2 motor (might be applicable to series 1 aswell) you must use a short ignition lead from the coil pack to the spark plug. put the timing light sensor around that and then you'll get and accurate reading...

bump anyone have any idea...

bump i have also found when i tightn the bolts up on the c.a.s timing wil drop by 5 degrees example i set c.a.s to 15 degrees btdc then tightn the botlts up being sure not to knock the c.a.s and the timing will be down to 10 degrees btdc is this normal
