well i threw in the towel today :(

have been in a dead end job for far too long.

gave notice today... and today is my last day

i am gonna be starting with Telstra on wednesday

horay for me !!! :P

Heh I know how you feel. I only recently started in my current job (4 weeks in now) and before that I was working at a dodgy computer sales/repair shop in Salisbury.... I was there 2 weeks and the boss's attitude was absolutely abysmal.... after he childishly berated one of the sales staff (who was doing a good job imho) I went to lunch and never went back. Took me 4 weeks to get any payment out of them, and even then they decided to try n make it hard by taxing me at 47%..

Happy now. I don't suffer fools, and nobody else should. Except perhaps Mr T, who thinks everyone is a fool.

There is always someone who can do a job better and for less money.

Everyone is replaceable.

Ha! Not me.

Did I mention I started the business for the Partners over 8 years ago? I've got a Bachelor of Business, Masters in Business, as well as MYOB teaching qualifications, qualifications in Accounting, qualifications in Drafting, and I have alot of experience in IT hardware/software installations and setting up of business networks.

Trust me, there is no one out there with the amount of muti-skilling I have. I cover all areas of the business, including IT, Bookkeeping, Drafting, Managerial Tasks, Information Systems, Marketing; except the planning consulting itself.

My salary is a 'little' higher than working at Maccas. :P

Depends on the industry. That door swings two ways. This bloke actually went thru 4-5 technicians a year due to his lack of people skills, that was (by the store managers estimate) at least 20 odd in the last 5 years that he had been working there (and the manager, sales people and technicians all hated working for the guy, problem being with kids on the way you cant just quit).. me, I haven't got that problem, so I was gone when I knew that it was a dead end job.... guy tried to threaten me on the phone when I told him I quit, and I just simply said that any threats would only convince me that I was making the right move. People don't have to put up with bullying in the workplace, of any sort. People like that generally blame the worker, when in actual fact they really need to work on their own mismanagement/people issues.

Tell that to my boss who has been searching for a suitable Power System Protection engineer for 18+ months..... Its fair to say I'm becoming part of a very rare breed indeed :)

True.

There are people out there in specialist jobs or multi-skilled jobs, who just can't be easily replaced if at all.

I have my own little retirement plan. Retire at 45 with a property at Renmark and houseboat to hire out.

    • I'll snap up some photos when I'm back home, in the office today meeting my "in the office" quota. Have 2x Teams calls scheduled in, office culture they reckon.   I've never owned a proper off the shelf sub, I've always made or modified broken ones with Jaycar plate amps and/or car subwoofer drivers. The current (and broken) subwoofer has a proper home driver in it, Dayton driver, thos one https://www.daytonaudio.com/product/118/rss265hf-4-10-reference-hf-subwoofer-4-ohm FS of 25Hz, which is low but not low enough. Yeah, I think they were brought out to the market to compete with SVS. I would love a SVS PB-3000 but they're not cheap, especially after their price hike. From reviews online, it does look like the Tonewinner D6000 would destroy and with good amount of money saved too.
    • yeah, that happens too.  I'm really enjoying 4WDing at the moment, seen a few beautiful spots and want to go explore more of this enormous country.  The 370Z got a clutch LSD in it and a track day, great fun.  Getting the back end sorted out really rejuvenated my enthusiasm for driving it hard, the viscous one is poo especially in such a short and wide chassis.  The VLSD unpredictability was more benign in a long and skinny Skyline.
    • With my pre/power I use a remote trigger cable(3.5mm jack each end). I turn tv on, it turns both on via ARC. Or, just the pre with the remote or its streaming software, turns on both. Not that difficult at all. Obviously,  you would also want to actually update/upgrade over other factors in your life(bills, family, other hobbies, etc)
    • Yeah, nightfall was very "meh". And I'm crap at pvp, so feels like everyone has cheats(it's just my lack of skill). Final shape has been pretty good. New raid and dungeon are pretty good. If you want to give it a go, probably wait until it's on sale. But, as usual, most of it feels very familiar.
    • This morning was Kingswood's Microscopic Wars. It is the album's 10 year anniversary this year and we went to see them play the whole album as a special show a couple of months back. Was pretty spectacular.
