HID D1S/D1R Vs. D2S/D2R????

Hello All, does anyone knows the difference between HID kit that are labelled as D1S/D1R versus D2S/D2R??? Is the D2S newer version of HID?

Another question is are these all the require parts for a complete HID system:

2 ballast

2 set of relay, wiring, and connectors

2 HID bulbs

2 Starters <------ ????

This like Xenon headlights?? Don't know about Hong Kong but here in Oz u also need self-leveling and self-cleaning parts for it to be legal, ergo a complete system. HID, High Intesity Discharge? From what i understand i think it's a gas disharge instead of an element so i'm not sure if u need starters, but i guess would seem to fit cos there is a gas involved?? :confused:
