your talking about your timing belt aren't you?

if so it's not the easiest job in the world...

not too say that you cant do it, but how are you going to check the bearings etc? if they snap after the change --- good bye engine! prob best to get a pro to check it all for you!!

Yup, I'm looking at my engine in pieces, and where the idler bearing bolt has snapped off in the block due to overtightening coz of the FCUKwit who fitted the timing belt. DONT do it yourself if you dont know what your doing, and make sure the mechanic knows what he/she is doing. Timing belts can DESTROY engines if not done properly.

had a mates car do that recently, ended up being a blown head gasket!! hope that's not the case, does it rev ok up higher, and when warm?

you can check the gasket pretty easy with the norm white stuff under oil filler, white smoke etc, or take it to a mechanic. they have a cool little device that goes on the radiator filler and chances colour when it meets exhaust gas, so no major work to check this!!

hope it isn't this though!

yeh, i dont think its my head gasket cos theres no white smoke, just a shitload of black smoke, i think its cos the o2 sensor is making it run fat, and burning alot of petrol, and theres no water in my oil, visibly... i hope its not the head gasket, cos thats mucho worko getting to it, ey? having said that i do seem to have an oil leek at the passenger side firewall side..on hte block a bit...

you might still wanna check it, up to you! maybe a lube mobile or something might be able to come out and do that check for you if you cant move the car around!!

shouldn't cost too much, our mechanic just did it for nothing so dont know the cost!!

hows the turbo sound?

have you cleaned the AFM? had something strange like that in the 33, it was only when put on boost, and would pop and shudder when accelerating!!!

turned out that the filter element came off and the AFM signal was out of whack!!

just listened to your video, did your cars starter motor always make that sound after it started, sounds like it takes a while to retract!!! if thats hitting the ring gear might be making the sound but that doesn't explain the over heating!!!

yeah definatley check the starter motor cacuse the sound keeps going after the car stops!!!
