Hi Everyone

I am looking to buy an R32 GTST. Ive seen two cars, one has 113kms and other 130kms on it. Both stock. I thought stock would be the way to go because I thought there would be less problems. Am I right in my thought process?

If not, what Engine mods should i look for that will increase the life of the engine?

Any information will be grateful to this Numbie.

Generally speaking, speedos are wound back in Japan, so unless the seller has logbooks, the kms aren't a good indicator of the car history or condition.

Stock is nicer because it is harder to break a stock motor. That said, RB20s are super cheap so breaking one isn't a big deal. Engine life generally comes down to service history, frequent oil changes, and a sensible right foot. Yes, everyone buys a skyline to give it some stick, but guys that flog a cold motor or love to play traffic light Grand Prix would be shortening the engine life.

Hope that helps. The bottom line is: RB20s are cheap. If you can find one with a few bolt on mods, you should grab a decent deal. Remember that more mods means an ECU retune or replacement is more important. So watch out for an engine with a big turbo and big intercooler that is running a standard ECU. THe seller prob just sold his PFC or whatever to make some coin prior to sale.
