hi guys,

last few days we had a bit of rain here in syd, after this i have noticed i have mini fish tank in my taillights.

water has gotten into the taillight, what is the best fix here? where does the water get in so that i can seal it off properly?

my guess is that the seal has broken down with age...

thanks,

Correct the original seals on the taillight have broken down....any decent panelbeater will be able to re seal for you. Just make sure to get rid of any water in there before you reseal.

An easy fix for you; i just ended up drilling a 1mm hole in the bottom of the lenses to let them drain and dry out as i had problems getting them to seal properly, you only see the holes if you're really looking for 'em.mines a drifter anyway so it doesnt matter too mutch!

all fixed now - i took out the lights, cleaned up the surface 'goo' with turps then refit them.

i used a mastic which is the best thing for the job, if u use a silastic/silicone it will dry to a hard rubber & can move or split over time...with mastic it never hardens as it always remains wet & sticky (just like the factory stuff they use)

i tested it with water - perfect  easy fix
