how about:

1. drain old oil

2. engine flush

3. liter of cheap oil to clean it again

4. 5L of syntethic oil

if u use engine flush put it in before draining the old oil. put it in take the car 4 bout a half hour drive to get it throught everywhere then drain the oilfor at least 20min 2 let all the oil possible out then put sum synthetic oil in.

u will find that quite a few of tho oils now have sum sort of cleaning agent in them. in my old ss when i bought it i knew the oil hadnt being changed for a year. i draind it put castrol edge in it and 4 the 1st 2000ks it was taping its head off then done another change after 4000ks with the same oil and it was all sweet

A friend of mine used to work at nissan, anyway his brother had a piece of shit kingswood and was fixing some stuff on it, and serviced it fairly regularly (brother has no idea about cars) He replaced the rocker cover gasket as was leaking and noticed heaps of burnt on crap on the head. Anyway getting to the point he started using shell helix oil (they have in the big drums) and after a few services he had the rocker cover off again and noticed that where the oil was running it had cleaned alot of the areas up. Most good modern oils would do the same. So regular servicing with good oil is all you need.

as above:)

1. add oil flush to engine oil (wynns/nulon etc..-> a good brand)

2. turn on car and let it idle for a period of time... (every bottle says a different time..wynns ->15-30mins/nulon ->10-15mins)

3. drain old flushed oil when warn!!!! use a 14mm socket to undo and its anti-clock wise...

4. replace sump-plug washer, when all old oil all drain out, should take 5-10mins.. if that!! and put back in!!!

5. *MUST* replace oil filter (a must when using oil flush!!!!!!)

6. *MUST* replace engine oil, with good oil of your choice!! ( a must if you want your engine to run!! lol ) :cheers:

7. check ur dip-stick to see how much oil you've added, i believe rb25det is around 3.8L...(with a oil filter change)

8. put your engine oil cap back on..and shes ready to GO!!!

but there's no harm doing a engine flush like once or twice a year..just to make sure..

just did it to my r33 s2 and it just went past 100k's

seemed fine after...probl. do it again wen i hit 115 to 120k's..

IMO..

If used from the first time, yep, use it.

BUT, as I have made more than one engine rattly having used it, I'm not sure wether it is a good idea on a good engine.

Generally this stuff is good for diesel engines IMO, and that is it.

Good rule is to use good oil, always run the engine to normal temp if you fire it up.

Lets just evaluate what this stuff does... it removes varnish type deposits too, and this CAN affect the compression. IT DID take enough out of the bores of a hydraulic valve lifter for me to actually make it rattle thereon. Admitedly the engine was nof unknown history.

Mate, the oils are pretty damn good now in the modern world, and there are additives in them to assist in engine cleanliness.

Not saying dont, but its your call.

I wouldnt even worry about using an engine flush, some people believe not to and other people swear by it. If you change your oil and filter every 5000 km's and use decent synthetic oil then u shouldnt have any problems. But dont put it in after u change your oil and filter because if u had a flush in it and ran the car with it in until its next oil change, i reckon it may do some harm. And if u do use it you only really have to run the engine for 15 minutes or so.

I dont believe in engine flushing myself, it thins out the oil, and no matter how long you leave the engine oil draining, there will always be old engine oil with flush still left in the engine, mixing with the nice clean oil and fouling it up with the flushing agent.

Personally, for my first engine flush I do on a new (newly bought 2nd hand) car, I drain the oil, replace the filter with the cheapest reputable (valvaline or similar) filter, fill with new clean oil, and take the car for a drive until it reaches normal operating temperature.

After it's reached temperature, I come back and do another oil change with proper synthetic oil, another new filter and then she's sweet from there on.

Doing it this way, the engine oil originally in the car is removed, new oil (not a shit oil, but not $90 oil) is run through the engine to flush out the old oil, then drained. Once that's done, the actual running oil is put in, and she's run on that from then on.

Each oil change after that is simply oil and filter every time with decent synthetic oils.

I used engine flush once, and it thinned the oil, took away the carbon and other impurities that where stopping tappet rattles and other issues, and the engine came out rattling like an old tractor, so never again, if it is running good, there is not need for flushing it completely.

NO. Its not advisable to flush your engine every engine oil service.

You will be changing your piston rings and bearings every 40,000 to 50,000kms.

Using high performance engine oils will do. Just keep a 8,000 to 10,000km engine oil service intervals for fully syn. oils you will be fine.

I know this is an old question but I used some supercheap auto flush on my sr20det motor and 10 minutes later 1 of the bearing started rattling. Cost me $500 to get new bearing shells fitted

    • Back again. I returned to Japan in Jul/Aug to spend time with the car on my birthday and remind myself what all the sacrifice and compromise is for. It happened to line up with the monthly morning meet in Okutama, which I have been wanting to go to for a long time. It's a unique event at a unique spot with really rare, interesting, and quirky cars. It's where all the oldheads and OGs gather. The nighttime scene at DKF certainly has its place and should be experienced if you're into cars, but there's too much bad attention and negativity around it now. IMO the better time is Sunday morning at DKF or Okutama; it's more chill and relaxed. I'm glad I was finally able to go, but not sure it's worth the drive from all the way from Nagoya immediately the day before, unless I was already staying in Tokyo for the days right before the meet, because you have to wake up quite early to make it in time. Funnily enough though I didn't drive the car all that much this trip because it was just too damn hot. While there were zero issues and running temps were nominal and the A/C was strong, RBs already run crazy hot as it is. Sure, it took it all like a champ but something about driving these cars in the ridiculous heat/humidity bothers me and makes me feel like I'm asking too much of it. I'm just me being weird and treating the car like a living thing with feelings; I'm mechanically sympathetic to a fault. Instead I was mainly driving something else around - a KX4(silver) 2001 X-Trail GT, that I acquired in May. There's a few different flavors to choose from with Xs, but visually it's the Nissan version of the Honda CR-V. Mechanically it's a whole different story as this, being the top-trim GT, has an SR20VET mated to a four-speed auto and full-time AWD! It was a very affordable buy in exceptional condition inside and out, with very low mileage...only 48k kms. Most likely it was owned by an older person who kept it garaged and well-maintained, so I'm really happy with how it all worked out. It literally needs zero attention at the moment, albeit except for some minor visual touch-ups. I wanted something quirky, interesting, and practical and for sure it handily delivers on all three of those aspects. I was immediately able to utilize the cargo and passenger capacity to its full extent. It's a lot of fun to drive and is quite punchy through 1st and 2nd. It's very unassuming -in the twisty bits it's a lot more composed than one would think at a glance- and it'll be even better once I get better tires on it(yes, it's an SUV but still a little boat-y for my liking). So...now I have two golden-era Nissans in silver. One sports car and one that does everything else; the perfect two-car solution I think👍 The rest of the trip...I was able to turn my stressed brain off and enjoy it, although I didn't quite get to do as much as I thought. I did some interesting things, met some interesting people, and happened into some interesting situations however, that's all for another post though only if people really want to know. Project-wise, I went back to Mine's again to discuss more plans and am hoping to wrap that up real soon; keep watching this space if that interests you. Additionally, while working in the tormenting sweatbox that is the warehouse, I was able to organize most of the myriad of parts that my friend is storing for me along with the cars, and the 34 has a nice little spot carved out for it: And since it can get so stupid hot in there, that made it all the more easy -after I was standing there looking at the car and said 'f**k it'- to finally remove all the damn gauges that have mostly been an eyesore all this time. Huzzah. The heat basically makes the adhesive backing on the gauge mounts more pliable to work with, so it was far less stressful getting this done. I didn't fully clean it up or chase the wiring though; that will happen once I have the car in closer possession. Another major reason to remove all that stuff is to give people less reasons to get in my car and steal s**t while it's being exported/imported when/if the time comes, which leads us to my next point... ...and that is even though it's time in Japan is technically almost up since it's a November car and the X would be coming in March, I'm still not entirely sure where my life and career is headed; I don't really know what the future looks like and where I'm going to end up. I feel there's a great deal of uncertainty with me and as a result of that, it feels like I'm at a crossroads moreso now than any point in my life thus far and there are some choices I need to make. Yes, I've had some years to consider things and prepare myself, however too much has happened in that time to maintain confidence and everything feels so up in the air; tenuous one might say. Simply put, there's just too much nonsense going on right now from multiple vectors. Admittedly, I'm struggling to stay in the game and keep my eyes on the prize. So much so in fact, that very recently I came the closest I ever have before to calling it quits outright; selling everything and moving on and not looking back. The astute among you will pick up on key subtext within this paragraph. In the meantime I've still managed to slowly acquire some final bits for the car, but it feels nice knowing there's not much left to get and I'm almost across that finish line; I have almost everything I'll ever want for my interpretation and expression on what it is I think an R34 should be. 'til later.

    • Also playing with fire if they start to flow more air down low than what the stock twins can. It's not even up top you need to worry, it can be at 3000rpm and part throttle and it's getting way more flow than it should.
    • Any G40/1000 or G40/1250 results out there?  
    • You still want a proper tune on the stock ECU though. Stock tune + stock ECU with GT-SS/-9s is probably playing with fire if you're running more than stock airflow/power.
