hey mate had the same question recently..... here is my link may help but i drained mine to directly on H(high) it was 1 litre over filled and i had smoke pouring of my rear turbo after drives.... so i dropped it to propper level and smoke stopped

i'd be dropping it DEFINATLy as this will have major effects on the pressure (oil pressure) for the engine, you don't want to damage anything. even if u underfill (via draining) and have to top up. better pay for oil than internal components busting on you! just my 2cents! cheers, hame

I accidently did this, then noticed my catch can had filled up and I freaked out thinking my nice new engine had just developed a shitload of blowby :) it basically spat all the extra oil into the catchcan at high revs and then stopped doing it.
