A pair of cams + slide pulley gears is not too expensive.

Maybe $900 for the cams, $350 for the gears.

You can even keep your NVCS VCT with the Tomei set (not sure about HKS).

However for your $1,250 (say $1,500 to install)...

It is giving you $1,500 worth of power?

I suspect not.

Spose its a matter of what you consider value for money. Some people think nothing of spending $200+ in a night out. God knows my best effore was over $1k (bloody kings cross:D)

I certainly think my cams and cam gear are good value for money - I will get to enjoy them every time I drive the car - once they are in.

They cost a bit more than the figure you quoted above too.

INASNT - We can do any camshaft. We are the only camshaft manufacturers in Australia. Our facilities are the most impressive in Australia (Cause they're new and neat). And from a true engineering point of view - Yes ours are the best quality. TRUE ground finish, with an ultra-light series of cams on the market too. I have a bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and the boss (Dean Tighe) has an A.D. in Mechanical Engineering. Ivan Tighe makes valves now and co-designed the Repco/Brabham F1 V8, AND he still races his BDA powered open wheeled Kadicha Hill Climb race car. The thing is nuts - and he's 73!!

Crane Cams is American. Sorry about the blurb.

OK READY? In a bucket actuation such as the RB series motors, the camshafts need to be made from Iron. Problem is, you can't make Iron billet camshafts in the RBs length and diameter (Too slender- hard to machine) The way around this is we can make billets from our steel, then the buckets would need to be chrome plated and journals and lobes would need oil holes drilled. JEEBUS they look good but. Doing some 7MGTEs for Toyota in Canada, same style of cam and they look sweeeet.

Cost - Not sure call Dean

Or we can do what we do to almost every other set of RB cams (including mine) and build them up then grind them down, which does not require lash caps or spacing as the base circle is kept intact. Cost for this is $1200. Now don't go nuts cause there is HEAPS involved. If you saw how long it takes to set up, then grind, then build up, then grind and repeat and crack test and straighten, you'd shit yourself.

Call anyway and ask.  (07) 3271 6001

I take it the $1200 is for both cams.... right?? Also can you guys supply heavier valve springs? also at what price?

Sorry about all the questions..

Cheers,

Trev

JNR24- $1200 is for both cams. Remember, this is to build the camshafts up and grind them away. This keeps your base circle the same and negates the need for spacing the buckets.

If you think $1200 is too expensive, we can supply you with larger cams than the Tomei ones mentioned for $400. more duration and more lift. There are many options.

$350 for adj. cam gears. You can keep your VVT or shaft it. Up to you.

Yes we can provide stiffer springs - Iskenderian Racing. That is what I'm doing. Bit of mucking around but worth it. The springs themselves cost about $450.

Also Titanium retainers - $45 each. or $20 each for Chromoly.

TonyGts-t : Have you experienced our $1500 worth of performance? No? Well do your research on our product before heading overseas.

lukevl,

so if i sent you my camshafts it would cost me $1200 to get them done, i would be getting them done to get more bottom end and get the turbo boosting earlier? would your cams do this? Also if i had them done would it be a straight fit or would the head need modifying?

Thanx

Evan

$1200 will get your cams built up and they will bolt back in to your engine without having to use lash caps or tipping your valves.

From what you are saying, we might be able to grind you cams down. This will cost $400 and will require spacing of the buckets. Like I said, we could grind a profile onto your standard cams bigger than the Tomei one mentioned earlier.

Also if you go for big-ish cams, like mine, you will need to relieve the cylinder head so the lobes don't foul the casting. No biggie.

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened.
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
    • Damn... Not the feedback I want to hear.
