Andrew, I see where ur coming from however I havnt played GT4 but GT5 is just ridiculous. Why should it be harder in a game than in real life? But u know what i wouldnt mind it being harder on a game but GT5 is beyond that, its to the extent of impossible, especially using a steering wheel.

The drifting side of GT5 has obviously been designed so u can only HALF do it with a controller, where u can turn the wheels full lock from one way to the other within a second. What u need to basically do with the controller on GT5 to drift is literally full lock the wheel back into the bend before it whip lashes and then full opposite lock again before u lose it & keep repeating this to maintain half a slide.

Thats a load of (*&^^**&, because it certantly isnt the way it happens in real life.

I am very surprised however that u are putting down the physics on GT1... because i can VERY confidently say the power oversteer, low speed & high speed drift physics are in a completely different ball game to the rest of the series.

For example the open wheel diff effect is NOT existent AT ALL in GT1 like it is from GT2-GT5. If u were to do a stand still on a slight hill in GT1 the rear would instantly slide to the direction of the slope where as in all the rest of em, the car some how stays straight! Even when u let go of the brakes and continue wheel spinning its SOMEHOW straight!

Gran Turismo has a LONG way to go, because graphics wont cut it for me. They need proper car sound that makes u really smile, better loss of traction/power oversteer physics & just more car feel like R Factor & the rest of the real simulators..

^ It's been a while since I had a bash on the original Gran Turismo, but from what I remember the cars were too hard to hold in slides and link corners. I should dig it up one day and compare it back to back with GT4.

I would like to give GT5 a shot, but don't see myself even having a decent TV anytime soon, let alone a PS3 and wheel and the game  I'd drop by your house and take you up on your offer/challenge bit I think you're in a different state :)

Hmmmmm I don't know what to think, as the very same criticisms were leveled at GT4 for drift when it came out, and I admit I thought along the same lines as well. Oh, the countersteer is too touchy, it's too hard to drift smoothly blah blah. Now, after a solid 2 years playing the game, I can link entire tracks, smoothly.

I'll admit, I haven't played GT5, but I think it might be a case of re-training yourself on how to slide, and once you do become acusstomed to the way it handles, it might be even better.

Thats because youve gotten used to the game, and that explains it in itself... youve gotten used to the games retarded physics, and now you can drift... good for you, but it simply shows that the physics are f**ked, because even you admitted after 2 years, you can link an entire track, anyone with decent car control skills, and drift experience in real life, shouldn't have to play the f**king game for 2 years just to get used to its drift physics. Not swearing at you man, its directed at my hate for whats happened to the great GT series. All down hill from the original... pathetic.

Ive been saying it all along, and people thing im just an Xbox fan boy. Truth is, Forza2 is good, but its still short of a real simulator.

Dean, you'll be waiting forever for that sim on PS3 man... because it will never come out. The only "sims" are on PC, and you've already played/been playing the best of them! All PC needs, is a GT/Forza based sim. Where you can purchase everyday style cars/street sports cars like the jap imports etc. with some awesome ass physics like rFactor/LFS etc. and there you have it...

Consoles are for casual gamers man... they ain't gonna release a game that only 5% of people in total who own the consolse, MIGHT buy.... I think the new GTR might be coming out on PS3 - not even sure on that one. Just heard it from someone.

Do this one thing, and you wont ever play a racing game on your PS3 again.

Join a community like OMR - check it out on YouTube, look for like the Aus V8 Series for instance, the videos. Its f**king spectacular, when you race online with REAL opponents and REAL physics... with like 6-44 online racers depending on the game. You will bloody not wanna stop. These guys race for real, its like real life racing minus the real cars. All flag rules, warm ups, quals, realistic damage/wear.

I played NASCAR 2003 with 43 other racers, doing a 100% length race at Talladega (went for like 3-4hrs non stop) and finished 5th. About 15 people DNF from big smashes etc. It was just like watching it on TV but better.. the accidents were JUST like the real deal... its f**king the most immersive gaming experience ive had to date! Im not a HUGE fan of simple oval round and round racing... but dont knock it till you try it. It may have been round and round but when you can draft with another racer and catch the main pack after a minor slip up... and be in the race again and bump draft, the whole sha bang.... f**k its the best. Yellow flags, pileups... and thats just NASCAR!

Games like rFactor with the Porsche Cup mod in particular, is one of the best series you can race in.

Give it a go, you wont be disappointed. Very friendly and helpful bunch too!

And seriously... dont ya'll agree that GT5 completely does NOT deserve the title of "The Real Driving Simulator"? f**kin crock of shit. False advertising... should sue Sony.
