Hey Guys... so its my 21st in the next few days, and due to that, i will have an increase bank balance.. so what better thing to bring it back down again then to spend it on my sky! =P

Anyway, there was a few things i want to get, though im not sure about the order i should do it in... As i cant do it all at once, as being a student, i need my sky to get to uni & other places...

So if you guys could help me out, i would appreciate it alot!

Here is the list of things i want to get...

1. Cushioned Button Heavy Duty exedy clutch

2. FMIC

3. SAFC 2

4. Boost Controller

5. Lighten Flywheel (im not too sure if this is nessacary? Can anyone advice me further...?)

As you can notice, its manily all power mods.. as ive done a fair bit on handling... (coilovers, strut bars... etc.), ive also got all the basic mods exhaust, pod, bov.. etc.

(Just a side note, my skyline is 100% street driven)

Now, i planned to do the clutch first (and flywheel if you guys think i should), as its the easiest for me... as i have my own car hoist, it can be a DIY.

However, im not sure about the FMIC, SAFC 2 and boost controller? Am i able to install the FMIC first, and do the SAFC 2 and Boost controller later? or will this cause trouble with the stock ECU and turbo?.. Id prefer to do it in steps if possible, but if i cant, then i will just have to wait till i have the time to have my car out of action for a few days...

So what do you guys think..?

A good aftermarket dump pipe(if you dont already have one) $400-$600

An Xtreme cushion button(awesome clutch) $580

No need for flywheel just get you stock one machined.$40-$50

A Profec B2 for boost control (these are a cheap but very good EBC) $380

And depending on your wallet a PFC or Haltech. $1300-$2500

And if you really want one a FMIC $500

A fuel pump is a good idea once you start raising the boost $200-$470

That should have your account drained for a while

LOL @ PFC... thats way out of my student budget!!!

I mite look into that extreme clutch tho... though im going to be sourcing my clutch of kudos motorsports on this forum... he has lots of good reviews, so ill have a chat with him.

What about if i install the FMIC, and do the boost controller and SAFC 2 (Or something similar ) later, will this effect the ECU/Boost in a negative way?

well how healthy is your clutch at the moment ? If its on its way out then prioritise that to be first..dump pipe is good....how much boost are you planning ? if its only a mild increase then a turbosmart boost controller are as cheap as..FMIC...shop around for that one..you may get one from an importer quite cheap...computer unfortunately is always gonna cost a bit but well worth the money spent if tuned well...

unless you want quick quarter mile times i would skip on the flywheel

upgrade to a fmic first and please spend the extra cash on a branded kit, then a boost controller (again do not go cheap), safc 2 then a tune! that is, going with the list you want to get.

Ok, ill add the dump pipe to the list... can anyone direct me to a good place to get one...? Im in perth, but i dont mind to buy online, as long as the seller is trustworthy =)....

Yea as for the clutch, i have no information on whether its new or not.. i only got this car in november last year... I think its best for me to change it before i start amping up the boost...

I dont want to torture the car if its not up to it! lol... on that note, ive already done the 100k service.. (it just hit 100k last week! =x ). And ive changed all fluids in the car, including full coolant flush... Yes im a bit of a fanatic when it comes to maintaining my sky :(

So ill do the clutch first and with regards to the flywheel, i think ill do what you guys suggest and machine my old one, as i dont think ill be using this sky for track.

Dump Pipe and FMIC next?

Ahh, no ones answered me on the FMIC yet.. am i able to install it first and tune with boostie and safc 2 at a later date??

And Yes, ill pay the extra few dollars and get a japan branded one, instead of a china made =).

And thanks for the replies so far... i really appreciate you guys taking some time to help me out.

Edit* 700HP - GTR 33, the problem is, i want to try and avoid down time, and since im a student i dont always have spare money to spend if something suddenly goes... which is why im thinking prevention instead of waiting for it to go... if i had lots of cash, i would probably do what you said and wait for it to go...

IMO, Coilpacks are high up on the "to bin and upgrade list"

I'd say,

Full exhaust, split dump, 3" into 3.5 or something with hiflow cat.

FMIC

Splitfire coil packs

upgraded induction pipe from airfilter to turbo

Bosch 040 or walbro in tank job

anything over 10 psi on the stock computer is no good. R&R - rich and retard

after that lot with a after market computer and a bonus is adjustable exhaust gear cam gear you can make around 200 RWKW's on 12-13 Psi on the stock turbo

you could get a remap or SAFC but i'm not a fan. ( I know u said u are a student, but I 'd say save it and get a stand alone ecu!)

after that lot your injectors will be about to run out of puff and same for the afm. injectors would be around 80-90% maxed

then once you can afford it, injectors, bigger AFM and turbo can go in. "sky's" the limit

this is my 2cents worth

flame away ha :(

Its all about air when it comes to Skylines.....

Intake,cooler, exhaust,boost and Turbo......

Get it right and you will have lots of fun

Get it wrong and you will have a pig with lots of lag and lots of power up top where you just can't use it. :P

Yes....you can install FMIC before Safc and boost controller...

Did Brendan say he won Tattslotto?

You have just spent $15K.......of his $2K...so now he is in the red 13K

I suppose suspension, brake and wheel upgrades did not even come into your mind when you posted this.

I mean with all that power, what's going to hold him to the ground let alone slow him down.

Now he is just going to wish he never asked such a simple question in here :P

There there is your flame... :D

haha fair call.

BUT

read the first post again

Dump Pipe + Hi Flow Cat (also replace your 02 sensor if it hasnt been yet) $500-700+

FMIC $1000+

Fuel Pump $300+

Injectors (optional) $1000+

Stand Alone ECU $1500+

In my opinion thats probably the most effective, both power and cost wise to get the most out of your car. Im at the same stage as you and this is what most people tend to agree on. Get them in that order, as you can install each one easily yourself (if you want) without any negative side effects, and when you install the ecu you will only have to get it tuned once instead of after each mod.

After that stage then you go onto things like bigger turbo, internal work or whatever you wish to do etc etc.

There there is your flame...

haha.. yea as untouchable pointed out, i have done good amount of handling mods... with HKS hipermax D coilovers, strut bars.. 17 inch P1 Racing with 255 on the back and 235 on the front.. as well as a few other things...

And yeah, budget is roughly 2k! Not that much i know, but im sure if i spend it wisely, i can get something at the end with decent power compared to stock.

Thanks on the info that FMIC can be installed without negative side effects...

So... i will go

1. exedy CHD clutch + machine my fly wheel

2. Dump Pipes (i already got hi flow cat... HKS Hi power) & FMIC

3. Boostie + SAFC 2 and tune.

And i got to give fuel pump, injectors a thought soon... I dun plan to boost it up to much... maybe 0.7 instead of the 0.5 stock.

ill try and do most of it my self, as i like working on my car + save money... but for the tuning i guess no choice but to get a pro to do it!

Again, thanks for all your guys help! Can always rely on SAU to give advice ! =)

Anyone know where to get a good set of dump pipes?.. and when i install am i able to keep my Cat back HKS hi power exhaust?

Anyone know where to get a good set of dump pipes?.. and when i install am i able to keep my Cat back HKS hi power exhaust?

batmbl sells a good front/dump pipe, i actually have one that i bought from jeffworld2 (great guy by the way) and its still waiting in the garage ready to be put in but i am waiting for the hi flo cat to be restocked. BUT, since you have a hks catback........ fork out the insane amount of money and buy their dump and front to match the rest of your exhaust!

but any cat will fit to your cat back as long as you get the same (maybe a little bit bigger) out diameter. your dump fits from your turbo to the cat and the cat sits in between your dump and your cat back. go with a full 3" exhaust, or ever 3" to the cat and 3.5" out, or even 3.5" all the way. my friend has put in a 4" exhaust and the minimal back pressure is just awesome on it but again, if you want to fork out that much money then go ahead.

well this is what i have done.....

Handling

- aftermarket swaybars

- aftermarket strut braces

- coilovers

Power

- Full greddy exhaust

- splitfire coilpacks

- pod

- fmic

- boost controller

- clutch and flywheel

hope that helps ya mate
