R33 Dash Plastic

Hi all, ive noticed on my dash and stereo surround (R33 s1) that there's a top layer that seems to be coming off quite easy so what i want to know is what solution would i use without damaging to plastic?? any help would be great.

the matt finish will rub off leaving shiny plastic - most people just sand it off and repaint it all

Yeh, pretty much. You can change the whole look of your car with some paint. Otherwise, just take it off. You shouldnt scratch ur dash too much if ur careful. It is hard getting it off tho, took me 2+ hours for mine

lol thats the whole point! i want the shiny finish under it. and want a solution (ie acetone) or something that will take the top layer off without damaging the plastic.

acetone will work. fk off sanding. its rubber. rubber doesnt sand particularly well

all you need is a hot day! once a little section of the rubber shite has been scratched/peeled off somewhere on the surround, you can continue to peel it off from that area. On a hot day that stuff peels off like sunburnt skin!

it actually looks great without the rubber shit. And after its off, if youre not happy with it; get it painted

To be honest, I wish I had done that! But its too late now. I used a spoon to peel mine off, very difficult!!

Cheers peoples, my mates 32 gtr had it like that very subtle indeed looked swish, it will do untill i get bored and paint it haha
