hey mate i don’t have any pic's just yet but i had the same problem that my sub box i had from my old car is just to big for the skyline boot.. I’m in the process of designing and making a custom boot with the fake floor and amps in the floor also. I’m going to use to tyre well and lift it up from there. il give you some info as soon as i get started should be this weekend..

thanks mate thats be good

i went with a small trapezoidal box from autobarn. It only just fits and you will need a sub optimized for a small enclosure to make the most of it.

I managed to fit it while retaining the spare and all boot trim.

I removed it all a month later when i started going to the track :P

  • 1 month later...

You can buy a sealed enclosure for a 12" sub from JB Hi-Fi made by a company called Q-Max. It's just the right size to fit in the R32 boot, you just have to remove the trim over the rear windscreen wiper motor, slide it in, and replace the trim. The enclosure is like $89 or something? Here's a photo of the one in my boot:

I prefer sealed enclosures for their punchiness, anyway. Plus they're smaller so you don't lose as much bootspace. And they look better. :)

Here are some better photos.

You can see in this second photo just how snug the fit is. You can also see why you need to remove the trim over the wiper motor to get it in as well. The good thing about this is that the box is easily held in place.

    • I know that smallbox is not great but as i said it will be for a limited time and iam not going to get crazy. But thanks...i just want to know if i can use that clutch and not have "problems"
    • No no. The Audi boost controller was made from a Norgren (or equivalent) 1/4" pneumatics pressure regulator, a similar (looking) relief valve (to create the "gated" function to keep the boost off the actuator until wanted) and a check valve plumbed in parallel with those two, to relieve the boost back out of the wastegate line after the boost event was over. It was the inclusion of that check valve, used sort of "backwards" as a relief valve, that was the stroke of genius that made the rest of it work nice. The only reason I stoped using it was because it was like any other manual/pneumatic boost controller - it's settings changed from season to season. The Profec is much more consistent winter to summer.
    • A couple of months of gentle driving will be fine. There is a risk that you will kill it. A heavy workout will probably kill 3rd gear. Continued use will wreck the input shaft bearing.
    • That's because R34 RB25DET is a pull clutch gearbox. I have that clutch, behind 25Neo, in front of R33 gearbox. I have brand new R34 turbo gearbox, in a box (cardboard) in the shed right now, and it will be getting used with the same engine and clutch, because I also have, in a much smaller box next to it, the front plate to convert the new box to push clutch.
    • Are you planning to ever come on boost with the RB25DET? The torque of the motor alone will break the little box. It's not a matter of if, it's when.
