hey was just wondering if anyone can confirm that its possible to lift the motor and gearbox out thru the engine bay in one go? of do they have to be split?

i know with my silvia i can shoehorn the motor and gearbox out together (rb26 and r33 5speed) so just curious if anyone has done this to a r32 before?

going out the bottom is a lot easier if you have a hoist... if you dont then off a trolley jack its a fken mission :)

Having done motor/box out via the engine bay myself with a RB25/box setup... a GTR setup would really be tight going out the top

sadly i dont have a hoist.. do have a bluepoint engine crane.. will have to see if its up to the task.

ive done the 26 with 25gearbox many times and its been piece of piss thru the top.. the thing that really got me worried with doin it in the gtr is the even larger gearbox again with transfer case and all the extra shit there is however many people have confirmed its possible so i should be able to do it

its fairly easy with gtr box and motor, ive done mine in and out around 20 times (thats not a lie either) and i will always go in with the box on rather than trying to do the box on the motor in the car, just get the front of the car up of the floor abit if u can and tilt the motor on a 45 degree angle with the box and put the rear of the box on a low low trolley with wheels under the car and slide the motor and back in towards the back of the car, then once its in enough get the trolley jack under the back of the box and get it up roughly in its position and drop the motor onto the mounts.

just watch the plenum etc doesnt catch on the brake booster lines etc, and watch the front of the sump on the front swaybar/power steering lines.

i found u dont have to tilt the engine and box back level like nismoid said above if u put the rear of the box on the trolley and wheel it in, it will level itself up, then use the trolley jack to get it up that last bit under the car.

Just cut the front radiator support off to make more room :P

lol, that's a no no here, do that and you can kiss your warrant of fitness good bye.

even tho its only spot welded in a few places and bonded it is still classes as part of a

monoqoc chassis and is deemed structual damage.

if it was a bolt in assembly, fine, so i dont recommend it for all you new zealand gtr/skyline owners.

yes i made a thread the otherday me an 2 mates did drop the motor in with the box attached, it was fairly easy took us bout 1.5 hours to get it bolted in,

but my wheel ect.. were still bolted back on so i didnt have use jack stands or else my engine crane would go high enough, i also had to jack the ass of it up to tilt the front down to get it a little lower and a better angle

EDIT just read you wanna take it out just do the reverse

i did it in a r33 gtr but used a forklift
