Exhaust Question

hey guys hope someone can help me with this one, how do i know if my cat is on its way out my exhaust sounds like its ticking i wanna get a cat back but cant afford to at the moment. also when i turn the car off it the exhaust ticks when its still hot what is that.

Does it stop ticking when it warms up? Get under your car and hit it a bit. If it rattles you know it's going/gone. Mine had the same problem, except the cat is silent when i hit it?

Has it always ticked, or only recently started? Ticking is normal, the metal exhaust wants to expand and contract when it heats and cools. As the flanges bolt togethor hard, preventing even growth, they'll rub up against each other, making the ticking noise. Like a metal shed or roof as clouds go over head.

Rattling could be a loose baffle in the muffler, or garbage in the cat (too big to go through the matrix)

nah it doesnt stop ticking and would that be the reason the exhaust sounds like its ticking on acceleration

Yeh, my cat is fine. I took it off today, and there is nothing wrong with it? How can you stop the warm up tick? And what would explain my sudden loss pf power?

Could be a leaky manifold/turbo gasket?
