From what ive read on these forums, people talk about how they have such and such a power rating on the dyno, but then on the track, run slower times that the guy next to them with the same mods (or less).

Should a cars performance be rated by how much power it produces on a dyno, how it peforms down the 1/4... or what makes more sence the g-forces of the car accelerating through a particular gear???

i know what your saying and dont understand it fully either. Lets say u got three r33 gtst's 1- 209hp 13.8@101

2- 250hp 14.0@100

3- 230hp 13.9@101

Thats as an example and there are many like that on here. Cars of the same make with more hp getting slower times than less hp cars of the same make. Does that come down to driver?? Tyre pressures?? General setup of the car?

There's many different aspects to performance, and these depend on what you're looking for. If you're after 1/4 mile times, then you mightn't be as worried about handling as a guy who likes to drift, you mightn't be as worried about power as suspension set up. Or you might just be a dyno whore who wants a big turbo to put out big hp readings on the dyno.

I think it all depends on what you want out of the car, to each his own i say.
