A friend of mine has been trying to get rid of a wreck, a 1999 Ford Festiva with heavy front end damage...and the best offer for it? $400! My dump pipes would cost more than that! It really does put some perspective into how much I spend on my car.

That a usual thing for cheap runabouts or am I missing something?

People who own car's like that buy new parts (or their car dealer ship workshop does), so wrecks are worth less. If you wait long enough a backyard mechanic or Festiva enthusiest might come along and offer more.
