I Want My Car Fixed

As most people know on Friday the 4th April someone crashed in to the back of me while i was stopped at the lights, on the Monday all the paper work was submitted to the relevent person as it was a company car, so the guy did the right thing.

I then on the Wednesday faxed off all the Quotes and was told the assessor will be in contact with me to see the car. As the crash has cracked my manifold the fumes in the car and the loss of power is ridiculous not to mention that i am using a fair bit more petrol as well and there is about $3100 damage to the rear but maybe more depends on what they come across when they remove the rear bar and stuff.

I dont want to pester them as they may take longer to fix my car but as its my only car and being a single mum i really dont have 150 per week to spend on petrol.

Can someone please help me as to what i should do cause its been 3 wks now with no word.

It depends on what shop your car is going into as to the time it will take to repair.

Your best bet is to "pester" them ... they're use to it trust me.

Just enquire about a timeline for the repairs and when you can get the car back. They may even have a loan car for you, being a single mum and all.

On a similar note, I crashed my MV Agusta F4 Brutale (bloody long name) motorcycle early February and the shop had my bike 7 weeks before the assessor approved the repairs ... but that was only because I went into their head office and screamed blue-bloody-murder! Its been 10 weeks since the crash and I still have no bike. I've been nagging these bastards for weeks, and its the only reason they're moving forward with my repairs. Granted, parts had to be ordered from Italy, but thats a 3 week wait ... not 10 weeks!

My broken shoulder has healed quicker than the time its taken them to even start work on my bike. I didn't pay over $20K on a bike just to have it sit in someone else's premises for 10 weeks. I'm praying they're going to stick with their timeline and I'll have my bike back in 2 weeks. In the meantime, I just re-registered my Suzuki TLR yesterday, as the itch to go riding is getting too much.

its not even at the shop yet i haven't heard from the assessor at all and it will be getting fixed at Doyles Crash and Exhaust Technology both are mates of mine so when the car gets to both places it will be done straight away

Yes, definately!

Assessors are lazy ass fools. Thats where the hold up (7 weeks!!!) was with my claim. Get onto them immediately.

I was run off the road in July 2007, got the car back in January 2008 (for 2 weeks) and sent it back for another 3 weeks to fix work that wasn't up to standard. Had the car back 2 weeks and split a coolant hose (back of the block) fixed it myself over several weeks and have only just got my car back on the road (9 months in total)

yeah nothing you can do but pester them! it took them 5 months to conclude my car was a write off and pay me!

i had my car stolen in august, got it back 2 days later completly stripped and undrivable, i took it straight to the panel shop, sent in all the paper work to the insurance within the first week, 8 months later they finally decided to write it off. 3 weeks later im still waitin for my cheque, because the 1 they sent me had none of my details on it the bank wouldn't cash it cause there was no way to prove it was mine im dealin with complete morons over here...

threaten to speak to a supervisor and threaten to go to the ombudsman if it is not processed now.

and also threaten them that you are going to the media.

I work in the industry, i know how it works, and the people who do this ALWAYS get processed first

you should call up everyday! they are real slack those guys. my car was sitting there waiting to be looked at for 3 weeks until i keep on calling them for a week straight and than they started working on it. =/

just called the guy at the company that organises their assessor's (sorry for the information i dont know if i can use company names in this situation)

he said "oh i sent off that paper work last week ill get on to them and call you back"

I told him the amount of petrol im using and the fumes are ridiculous i want something done

so we will see if i get a call if not ill call tomorrow

Gve him a calm voice, but guilt-trip him. and guilt trip him majorly.

Say u cant get anywhere without the car and youve got heaps of difficulties with shopping and stuff and kids cant get anywhere.

i didnt yell at him lol he was suprised that they hadnt called yet and i told him 3 wks ago bout the fuel and fumes and its my only car so i was reminding him that its bad

he is ok but i have to call him (the company) to call insurance place to tell the assessors. oh this is so stupid the way it has to be done

have they OK'ed the repairs at doyles?

if you go speak to mike and he'll sort you out a loan car. see if you can get the commo, it's the one i alwasy use and its pretty decent. that way you dont need to spend heaps on fuel and the fumes wont hurt you or your child also let mike know whats going on and he'll get stuck into your assessor and insurence company, so that should push it along too.

Doyle is usually pretty quick once he's working on a car. Wouldn't expect it to be much longer than a week for him to fix it.

You should either see if you can get the manifold fixed first or try & get a loan car from Mike.

What insurance company are you with? 3 weeks is pathetic. Shannons had me sorted in no time & you don't have to worry about quotes . I'll be sticking with them for a long time yet, they've looked after me pretty well.
