CWest
The ECU warning light on my 34 has started turn on. Its the one on the top right of the speedo. It only comes on about 5 mins after the car is started as if an error is only detected after the car has warmed up. Anyone ever had a similiar problem. Wondering whether the SAFC is messing up the ECU. Car is going in the shop next week but was wondering if anyone knew about what could cause this. The car seems fine and is running without anything noticeably wrong. benhpi
May be the AFC, but more likely your oxygen sensor is not functioning properly. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21607-warning-ecu-light-on-the-r34/#findComment-457906 Share on other sites
CWest
Thanks Ben HPI. I was told that by my mechanic ill get it checked out next week. One thing though, my mechanic wants me to disconnect my SAFC casue he thinks they are not worth the hassle and he doesnt want to tune the car with it on. Should i change mechanics ? By the way HPI rocks Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21607-warning-ecu-light-on-the-r34/#findComment-458069 Share on other sites
benhpi
S-AFC can be useful, depending on the other things done to your car. They are easy enough to tune, so I don't see why you should have to remove it (assuming it was wired properly in the first place) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21607-warning-ecu-light-on-the-r34/#findComment-458194 Share on other sites

franks
are you sure its the check engine light??? is it the oil light??? checked oil levels lately??? some sensors may be malfunctioning, for instance your AFM? maybe try some contact cleaner on it? goto a different mechanic. the fool obviously doesnt know what to do with the safc. they will be a tremendous help when properly tuned. and you know you can default your safc back to zero's and essentially let the ecu run "factory". ??? CWest
Thanks Frank it is the ECU light not oil. Cars due for a service anyhow so id rather let my mechanic handle it. Still looking for a mechanic in the North Shore, which mechanic do u use ? benhpi
The North Shore isn't exactly overflowing with workshops that specialise in imports. The only one I know of is Hybrid-Vision in Artarmon. If Roger is still there, he knows his stuff. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/21607-warning-ecu-light-on-the-r34/#findComment-459788 Share on other sites

Just a turbo recommendation or a whole package? Are we talking about a GT-t? What do you want from the car?
