Hey guys,

I've been looking into buying some new rims for a while and I think I've finally decided to get these - Koya Drifteks. The reason I picked these is because they are the best looking 4-stud wheels I can find, and they're reasonably cheap

Now I just need to know:

1. Which offset fits best on a GTS? +18 or +35?

2. Will my car fit 9.5" width wheels?

3. Are Koya's a decent brand of wheels?

Edit:

4. What size tyres are typically fitted to 18x9.5 wheels?

The standard wheels are 16x6.5 with a offset of +40 am I correct?

If you get these wheels which are 18x9.5 with an offset of +18, your wheels will stick OUT ~60mm from where the wheels currently are.

If you got them in +35 offset, they'll stick out ~43mm.

See how much room you've got in between your guards and decide for yourself.

A lot of people have these wheels and I haven't heard of people having problems so you should be fine. They're a decent width and offset as well, so not too bad.

As for tyres, I'm not sure about the profile, but I would run 225mm wide tyres for them to fit my guards nice and tight. The 225's on a 9.5" wheel will give you a slight stretch.

Hope that helps.

I'm not sure about the standard wheel size, as I have 17x9s on it now. I don't know what offset they are but I'm guessing they're probably something in the 30s. They could definately come out at least another 10mm, but I don't know much about offsets. It's the one thing I can't seem to get my head around. I think I'll just take a wheel off and measure it myself sometime

At this stage, I think I'll just get them in 17x9 to save myself the trouble of working out if 18x9.5 will fit or not, but I really want the 18s because I love the way big width wheels look from behind

The offsets should be on a sticker or printed on the wheel somewhere. No need to measure.

Let me know when you find out what the offset is and I can help let you know how much the wheels will stick out.

This metal sticker seems to be on all of the wheels. One wheel has two of them on it so I pulled one off so I could take the picture. Is this the sticker you were talking about?

It has 2 small metal pieces and 2 big ones. The small ones say 5fe and the big ones say 10fe. If this is the thing that tells me the offset, does that mean (2x5)+(2x10)= +30 offset?

I'm gonna seem like an idiot if I'm wrong

I apologise for the crappy picture. I can't find the real camera, so this was taken with my phone in night mode

Um, mate, are they pretty solid? Cos they look alot like your wheel weights you just took off, and now you'll need to take your wheel in to get rebalanced. The sticker they're talking about is shiny, usually starting to peel off if the rims are remotely old. And it says Offset: +/- xx or whatever. Might want to get your wheels rebalanced now!!

hahaha it looks like you've just taken the weights off your wheels. They're there to keep your wheels balanced from changing one tyre to another. Just causes less vibrations and I'm sure there would be other reasons.

If you still remember the location they were in, just stick them back on. Shouldn't cause too much harm.

Hahaha wow don't I feel like an idiot :) I stuck them back on, so no harm done I guess. Like I said in my previous post, it was stuck on top of another set of weights, so I just stuck them back on there

I've stuck my head under the car plenty of times to try to find some indication of what the offset is, and I can't find anything. I'll have another look in the morning, but I'm sure it's not marked anywhere

At least now I know what those metal stickers mean :(

You'll have to take the wheel off. The sticker could be covered in dirt.

I stuck my head under the car today and I noticed something raised lettering on the inside of the rim saying:

PCD 114.3 ET 40 TBX L283

I know what 'PCD 114.3' means. Is 'ET 40' the offset? And what does the last number mean?

9.5" width with an offset of 35+ should come out an extra 11mm I think, compared to my current 9" 40+ wheels. Just from looking at the car, it looks like there should be room for 9.5"s, but I'll have to do some research first. I might be better off just getting the 17x9s because at least I know they'll fit, and I won't have to buy new tyres either

    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
