Unfortunately this book is now out of print and it does sell for a pretty penny.

This book has been recommended by Autospeed, Autosalon, Fast Fours, Skylinesaustralia.com, toymods.net and probably here at Boostcruising.com

And this author is a modified car fanatic even in the 80s and 90s...

So let's not make a show that clones the original or even has remotely the same theme as the original... no factory stock cars... we can watch Top Gear for that... Top Gear Australia must be unique...

Let's make Top Gear Australia a unique car show around modified cars...who better than the authority in modified cars, Julian Edgar who loves his cars and works on his cars...

Let's make Top Gear Australia a unique car show around modified cars...who better than the authority in modified cars, Julian Edgar who loves his cars and works on his cars...

Isn't Julian Edgar the guy that threw the giant dummy spit about the R32 GT-R's "bad handling" because he couldn't drive it? If I remember correctly, he whinged that it was too oversteery because he was trying to drive an active AWD system like a car with a symmetric AWD system.

Given how the Top Gear UK guys punt their demo cars around a test track for their footage, I don't think I want a Top Gear Australia presenter who's allergic to hanging the tail out.

Vote No to Julian Edgar.

In all honesty...

I don't we have anyone even modestly able to host Top Gear Australia and still hold a candle up against the UK/Clarkson version...

This bloke sounds alright though... I just don't think anyone has the wit of Clarkson left shoe let alone the man himself... Ehhhh..

Even though he ain't witty, I'd like to see Niel Crompton there...

Plz just not Cam McConville, I'll throw myself into a bandsaw if he as much as appears on the bloody show...

Dave Morley's various written articles are as opinonated, in an ocker way, to Clarkson. If we were talking pure print (like what Clarkson does for Top Gear Magazine / Driving Times then I'd be voting Morley as he'd be a perfect "Aussie Clarkson".

However, after seeing him drive a trio of supercars on Great Ocean Road for The Car Show, he doesn't have the same engaging persona when it comes to video. It might be shyness in front of the camera since he's not done it before, but he lacks the confidence and engagement that Clarkson has on film, and they both have in print.

doen't J Edgar write for and own autospeed ? hardly surprising then autospeed recommends it.

Last saw Julian writing for 'Silicon Chip', he always reminded me of a school teacher.

I went and read some of my back issues of Zoom around the time he crashed the GT-R, 'RS Turbo better than GT-R' :laughing-smiley-014:

Danny 'Denzo' Vahoumis, Martin 'Tuner' Donnon, Andrew 'Ignition' Hawkins & some of the drifters would get my vote.

All know a variety of cars well, can drive & seem to keep me amused when they are in front of the camera.

Maybe even Ketzal 'High Octane' Sterling if he is still around.

Say no to Glenn Ridge also :(

I'd have to say - some of the NSW guys know him - Aaron McGill - drives in the fijitsu series and is a funny barstard, and can drive pretty well also

And Id agree with Eric Bana too!!!

+1 For no Glenn ridge! The Car show is the most boring car show i've ever seen!

And No Dave Morley, i enjoy reading his articles in Motor mag but on TV he's about as interesting as spell checking the dictionary...

Eric Bana would be interesting though, thats a good suggestion. He's funny, likeable and has racing experience. Only I doubt they could afford him :P

A drifter or two would be great too.

I dont think they should make it solely about modified cars though, but i definately think they should have a big part in the show. There are other new cars in AUS than just Commonwhores and falcadores. We do get exotics here too, just not as many.

The High Octane series are about the best car movies I've seen

      Hey lads, reviving an old thread.  As an update, since the last time replied to this thread, ive done mostly suspension. Havent touched the motor except for maintenance. Though upon changing spark plugs, found out i had splitfires pre-installed! Updates: - Got me some stock airbox top cover and snorkel to fit onto the original intake. Should be free of defects - Bought a set of R34 GT-T brakes (not installed yet, going to rebuild + respray in champion blue + white 'Nissan' text) - Bought the last set of bilsteins from @Sydneykid and had them installed. Has been making some sounds on the rear but hopefully should be sorted out after this New Year break. - Regreased front caster rod bushings (poly bushes..) - Rear upper camber arms - Whiteline sway bars (BNF27Z 22mm + BNR11XXZ 24mm).  The rear sway bars are a bit short (ive read 50mm else where) but was still able to get them in.  Anyhows, I reckon suspension is sorted now. Maybe replace bushes (do have a set of front upper control arms from SK not installed yet) but should be okay for now. From now, I'm wanting to start working on the motor, drivetrain etc etc. Still debating on the order to go on and what to buy etc but: - ECU ( Haltech or Link ( Link states that it dont support A/T or AWD functions... Can anyone attest to this? ) - Highflow turbo ( ATR43ss2 ) - Intercooler ( Not decided yet, but cant find many good afoordable ones. Toshi says to opt for crossflow Japanese. Bit difficult this one, unless I get a returnflow Blitz from JJ? ) - Injectors ( Any recommendations ? I do have a nismo FPR ( Thanks SK ) ) - Seats - Tune by either Toshi or DVS To be fair, I did consider just keeping the stock turbo and nistuning it. Sat in a mates stock N, that had something like 200kw, and I reckon that felt more than enough. Maybe I should just go this route ahhaha. Too many choices.... Planning a trip down south, so wanting to just clean things up and make sure it gets to and from in one piece. Anything else specifically I should do before ? Cheers lads

      Must be for the car’s lucky charm 🤷🏽‍♂️ She runs fine, but it just seems to take about 1L less. Maybe I’ll have the oil sump dropped at some point to check if there is anything

      Hmmm interesting. Mine is the exact same and clearly the right one.  The mystery of the engine oil being full after 3.5-4L continues

      Yes I as well would like to find out where I could get some of the seat material with the red or blue small squares in it
