I nearly ran over a young guy on a motor bike the other day who was riding down the middle of traffic while stopped at lights. Just the other day on the way to work a guy was injured while trying to overtake on the hiway and and some how clipped the back of a Landcruiser. To me it seems that its mainly the young guys on sportsbike that seem to do the crazy dangerous stuff.

The older Harley guys and the guys on trailbikes seem to be the most sensable on a riders on the street, from my experiences anyway. Anyone else got an opinion?

I don't know but I have had bad experiences, with the old dudes on their harley's and trumpies.

I have found that they tend to tail you in your blind spot for ages and then when you want to change lane (after indicating) they decide that they want to overtake at the same time and abuse you for it.

One dude had a go at me, to which I said that he was riding in my blind spot (which he was) to which he said that I should have been able to hear him (this is over my fat exhaust, bov and stereo playing). Yeah right!

I will admit when I am in the wrong why can't they?

i agree, most of these guys are nuts, like the young guys on sportsbikes who have less experience. Not all but most do insanely stupid speeds in and out of traffic, ride between cars and the rest, and we get stereo typed young hoons and then get done for loud exausts and stereo's and the rest. My dad used to own a harley and i used to be able to hear him coming home 5 mins before he actually got home yet they never get harassed its bullshit, but i guess thats just the way it is.

yer moto riders tend to be a bit of a law unto themselves

i detest lane splitters, i absolutly hate em, if they get knocked down they bloody deserve it. sure at traffic lights go between the lane of traffic and the kerb of the road, but not between 2 lanes of cars >:|

also there are so many bikes who toy with ya. specially on the m1, they sit in front of ya, so u change lanes to get past em and they take off... thing is a bit up the road the whole process repeats itself :|

must get boring i spose..

ull find that most young blokes that have done motocross riding then move to road legal bikes know how to ride and judge things.

then you get the ones that buy a bike cause their fast (rice bike theory) and their the dickheads that dont know how to ride.

i hate lane spliters.

haha yeah i used to race motor cross, and a do a few enduro's but had to sell my bike to buy my car :) i would love another dirtbike but riding a bike on the road in brisbane is just too dangerous, ive been on the back of my dads bike quite a few times when dick heads have cut him off and the like and its scary shit when all u have is a helmet and a leather jacket seperating u from the road. but dads bike is too big to fit between traffic, its engine is the size of mirages and excels though :)

I must admit - the ratio of d1ckhead bike riders here in Canberra is much higher than the ratio of d1ckhead car drivers !!

Like someone said before, they seem to think they have a law of their own - until they have an accident, then someone else is always at fault !

Bah, lane splitting is good for traffic, one less car thats holding you up. Just try to stay in the middle of your lane in traffic.

A lot of bike riders are mad, yes. Thats why they ride bikes.

James/Wayne - get stuffed, you are just jealous of them because they are going past you while youre stuck in traffic.

*misses his bikes*

a month before i moved from sydney i had a guy pass me on the eastern distributor on a bike. Thing about it was that i was in the far right lane and he passed me on my right (i.e. off the road) doing about double my speed. he was on a cbr 1100, and racing a guy on a 1100 ninja that passed me on the left. He clipped my mirror, smashed itno my front right panel, nearly put the F*cker down in front of me while i was doing 80-90km/ph. He managed to get it back under him, only to speed off before i could catch him to get his plates.... (i was a little more focused on not running him over while he struggled with the bike after hitting me to get the plate to start with). That's my one and only experience with bikes on the road. That specific guy was mad, but generally i think most riders respect their lives more than that guy did. doesnt help pay for the cost of repairing the front panel of my car tho... ;)

you wait until you hit one in car and see how you feel ....... its not good feeling knowing you've hit a person and almost taken their life.

Mate, I've been the guy on the bike hitting the car (which pulled out on me). Trust me, they know the risk. Riding a bike is risky, thats why its fun. They are "failing to stay within a designated lane" when lanesplitting, or something, which is illegal. Got booked for it once. $60. If it was my fault pimpspec, I would feel absolutely terrible if i hit a bike. It if was their fault I would be annoyed that my car was damaged.

One guy almost took me out twice in 5 minutes. Looked me in the eyes the first time. Old bastard.

Thats why you should always check mirrors and blind spots before making a move, you never know what is going to be there. Mind you, the old bastard mentioned above actually just failed to give way to me, twice.

hey matt. I used to own a bike. RGV 250.

it wasn't a purple one that u nearly hit was it? anyway what i learnt from riding was bastards it cars that don't look when changing lanes and trying to run u over.

It happened to be on a daily basis. I would be riding along right next to a 4wd, i would watch her as she steers into my lane only to look across to see me at the last minute, swerve back and slow down. I just shake my head and keep on riding.

Riding a bike makes u more aware of your surroundings and makes u a more focused driver.

By the way any one wanna give me A GSX-R 750

hrmm i think that motorbikes shouldnt ride themselves off, i think that if they want to go in the middle, that cars shoudl be able to aswell if there is enough room...

motor bike riders would all disagree, i think that motorbikes should learn to ride within the road rules like everyone else, were meant to treat them like another motor vehicle, well they should start acting like one, then i wont tail gate them, and yes if they try and be arsy, i will hit them, lets face it, a motorbike is easier to clean up then a car :P

Thats what they do.  Theres just rarely enough room.

PS.  Michael - If you do hit someone on a bike and its your fault, youd better hope they cant get back up.

ive never seen a car do it... and dont you worry they wont be getting up if my plan goes well
