Soooo.. I'm driving to Picton down Razorback with baby in tow.. I see hwp travelling the other way and I just knew he'd turn around and pull me over.. 5 mins later he's a car behind.. overtakes the 4by behind me.. lights on so I pull over..

Random breath test, "is this turbo", pop the bonnet.. etc.. "whats this light?".. hmm..

So everything checks out fine and I tell him my partner's in the job.. but being hwp he doesn't flinch.. then he tells me to follow him.. so i do and get this.. he says I may need to check my wing because it may be a hazard to pedestrians.. WTF? it doesn't stick out past the body...

So I tell my partner and he's like WTF.. the hwp officer was just makin up some bs.. turns out he's just a middle aged arrogant arse..

soo yeh.. that's my lil rant..

Other have been done for that too. If you have an aluminum wing or support brackets, then yes they are illegal as they could further injure a pedestrian in an accident. Bullshit i know, but i am also at risk of being done for it :whistling:

Oh anna that's not cool, It's a factory wing isn't it?

But the hwy patrol cops down are way are like this

I have been pulled up and defected for my "T" wing I had on my 180sx..

It was over sized and stuck out past the body..They say I could of caught a pedestrian with it..which could be true..

I thought that's why the police don't like them cause you can clip or drag a pedestrian with them if they get caught on it

Ahhh I have to head down to Camden soon for a few weeks of uni.. f**k taking my car..

I heard there's some operation road/safe thing going on?

So nice that they enjoy cruising around defecting everyone in sight and doing bugger all to stop people speeding on the country roads around there at 150+km/h is a top effort..

Basically it comes down to hitting a ped, Just like an exposed front mount or using a vehicle wihtout a front bar. If you hit a ped instead of breaking their legs your going to chop them up into little bits.

Thats why, only applicable if you have a wing with sharp edges, wing mounts which are high with sharp edges and so on.

As mentioned above if it exceeds body width, sits high or like I said has exposed sharp edges its classified illegal mod.

My partner's in the job and he says there's nothing wrong with it.. actually it was his car before it became mine.. hmm..

It's a GT wing I think.. it does sit on pretty high brackets but doesn't exceed the body in any way, shape or form.

I can see his point.. I just needed to rant/put it out there.. it's the first i've heard of it being illegal..

I don't want to part with my wing.. *sigh* it just won't be the same without it!

Hey Jess ..yeh.. well apparantly the guy that pulled me over is a complete toss.. he was in the red hwp falcon

I think I jinxed myself.. on Thursday night I went to krisspy maccas meet and was just saying how I'd never been pulled over..

I thought he just tried to defect me because it was double demerits and I'm a red p-plater and I have an import.. mehh who am I kidding it would have happened sooner or later lol..

Has anyone actually been defected for it??

Its been around for ages, they ussually dont pull you up on it unless your an asshole.

Maybe hes had a bad day, and also hes HWP he prob knows more about it than your hubby.. not to sure lol

If its a factory wing then there is nothing they can do, its been complied with it and 1000s have now so hes got no idea.

hehe I was driving like miss daisy!

I'm a little asian woman with glasses and completey harmless... actually I was going 80 in a 100 zone because there was a slow mazda 3 in front..

When he'd finished and everything was fine I went to join the road and there was gravel.. I accidently did a little skid/burnout and I was praying he wouldn't come after me again.. but he didn't.. wasn't a bad experience.. just the first time I'd heard of wings being illegal..

hey, that new brethalizer thing where you just talk into it...does that read your breath or what?

just thought id ask seen as how you said your hubby is a cop.

haha no comment..

New Breathaliser haha.. Let's just say they'll find a way to breath test you... besides they can charge you if you refuse a breath test anyway.. and if you refuse that's kinda like admitting your guilt..

well i call it BS, i was RBT'd the other night, not in the skyline and the cop says 'Oh we got a Problem'

while reading the screen thingy after i counted in it,then before COP had a chance i said 'Nah,i wasn't drinking' then cop says 'ok,have a nice night' WTF seriously WTF

actually those new rbt things are really dangerous.

cop asked me to count to 10, but I only got to 8 when he said thanks.

was he trapping me into breaking the law by stopping at 8?

:D

why would you be breaking the law? i never get to 10

they just say thanks when i get to 6 or 7 and then walk away and let me go. or if i am behind someone then they will ask for my licence (to kill time i guess)
